Pudpadnoi Worawut
Pudpadnoi Worawut ( th, ผุดผาดน้อย วรวุฒิ) is a Thai Muay Thai fighter who competed in the 1970s. He is recognized as one of the greatest Muay Thai fighters of all time. Biography and career Ponn Ommklin started Muay Thai at the age of 14 in his native province of Khon Kaen, following the steps of his older brother. His parents wouldn't let him pursue Muay Thai full time before graduating high school which he did in 1969. During that period Pudpanoi competed in Isan over 60 times and went undefeated. At the age of 18 he went to Bangkok on the advice of a fighter from the Worawut camp, at this occasion Pudpadnoi used his famous ring name for the first time as he won his debut in Rajadamnern Stadium by high kick knockout. During his first two years of competition in Bangkok Pudpadnoi won 17 of 19 fights, he was a very versatile southpaw with powerful kicks earning him the nickname "The Golden Leg". Legend * Nai Khanomtom (circa 1700s) - a legendary Thai soldier and boxer during the era of the Ayutthaya Kingdom who become known as the founder of Muay Thai. Khanomtom lived during the Second Burmese War (1765–1767). At that time, the Ayutthaya Kingdom was losing its long-running conflict with the Konbaung dynasty. In 1767, the capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom fell, and Khanomtom was one of the warriors who were captured and sent as a captive to the King of Burma. After seven years of captivity, King Mangra wanted to see how Thai fighters would compare to his fighters. Ruengsak Porntawee ( th, เริงศักดิ์ พรทวี); also known as Ruengsak Petchyindee (เริงศักดิ์ เพชรยินดี) is a Thai Muay Thai fighter. Biography and career Samreeng Manyaing started Muay Thai training at the age of 13 with an aging boxer from his region. He fought under the name "Ruengsak Luklamplaimat" and dominated in Buriram and the neighboring provinces until he was brought to the Porntawee camp. In 1974 Ruengsak became the 112 lbs champion of both Rajadamnern and Lumpinee stadiums, he earned the nickname "The Stone Man" for his incredible durability and the power of his strikes. Khunponnoi Kiatsuriya
Khunponnoi Kiatsuriya ( th, ขุนพลน้อย เกียรติสุริยา); is a Thai Muay Thai fighter who competed in the 1970s. Biography and career Khunponnoi started training in May Thai at the age of 12 with his uncle, competing in the Pattani province and in the neighbouring provinces. At 14 he followed his cousin Noppadej to the Kiatsuriya camp in Bangkok. Khunponnoi reached the status of top fighter in just three years after moving to Bangkok, being matched up with elite opposition by 1974. He defeated Pudpadnoi Worawut by decision for the Lumpinee Stadium 130 lbs title on July 26, 1974. He lost his belt three months later to Wichit Lukbangplasoi. The Rajamangala National Stadium ( th, ราชมังคลากีฬาสถาน; , ) is the national stadium of Thailand. It is part of the Hua Mak Sports Complex, and is located in Hua Mak Subdistrict, Bang Kapi, Bangkok. Jocky Sitkanpai
Jocky Sitkanpai ( th, จ๊อกกี้ ศิษย์กันภัย); is a Thai Muay Thai fighter who competed in the 1970s. Biography and career Phudta Naree started Muay Thai along his elder brother, he fought under the ring name Jocky Sing Sortor in Khon Kaen and neighbouring regions of Thailand until the age of 12. His powerful knees and fearless style beat many opponents in provincial arenas bringing him enough attention to be sent to the capital. Jocky made his first Bangkok appearance in 1971 for the Sor.For.Yor. Gym under the name Jocky Aor Wattana. He defeated many of the rising contenders of the era until his name was stained by a disqualification in a match against Petchmongkon Lerkchai at Rajadamnern Stadium. His headman, Prasert Kanpai filed a complaint with an x-ray film proving that Jocky was injured and did not intentionally throw the fight. His suspension was then lifted. Toshio Fujiwara
Toshio Fujiwara (藤原 敏男 ''Fujiwara Toshio'', born March 3, 1948) is a Japanese former kickboxer. Out of 141 professional fights before retiring at age 35, Fujiwara won 126, with a remarkable 99 by knockout; most notably, he was the first non-Thai to win a national Muay Thai title belt in Bangkok, a fact that many older Thais still remember and respect about him. Fujiwara became the first ever non-Thai stadium champion in 1978 when he won the lightweight title at Rajadamnern Stadium. Biography and career A graduate from the Chuo University, he started training kickboxing at the Mejiro Gym in July 1969, learning under Kenji Kurosaki.
