Bulls Head Ground
Bulls Head Ground is a cricket ground in Coventry, West Midlands. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1848, when Coventry played an All-England Eleven. It hosted its first first-class match in 1903, which was between Warwickshire and the Gentlemen of Philadelphia. From 1909 to 1919, the ground played host to 12 first-class matches. First-class cricket returned to the Bulls Head in 1990, and from 1990 to 1992 it hosted a further 3 first-class matches, the last of which was between Warwickshire and Middlesex. The ground has also hosted List-A matches, the first of which was between the Warwickshire Cricket Board and the Leicestershire Cricket Board in the 2001 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. Coventry ( or ) is a City status in the United Kingdom, city in the West Midlands (county), West Midlands, England. It is on the River Sherbourne. Herefordshire County Cricket Club is one of twenty minor county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Herefordshire. The team is currently a member of the Minor Counties Championship Western Division and plays in the MCCA Knockout Trophy. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. The Coventry and North Warwickshire Sports Club (CNWSC) (comprising, and formerly called, the Coventry and North Warwickshire Cricket Club (CNWCC), founded in 1851) is an amateur sports club in Coventry, England. Its 1st and 2nd cricket XIs were, as of 2014, in the Birmingham and District Premier League 2nd and 1st Divisions respectively. 1986 ICC Trophy
The 1986 ICC Trophy was a limited-overs cricket tournament held in England between 11 June and 7 July 1986. It was the third ICC Trophy tournament to be staged, and as with the previous two tournaments, games between the 16 participating teams played over 60 overs a side and with white clothing and red balls. All matches except the final were played in the Midlands, but the final was held at Lord's, London. The tournament served as the Cricket World Cup qualification process – Zimbabwe defeated the Netherlands to win their second ICC Trophy in a row and qualify for the 1987 World Cup. The East Africa cricket team was a team representing the countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and later Zambia. Their first game was against Rhodesia in 1951. East Africa appeared in the 1975 World Cup and the 1979, 1982 and 1986 ICC Trophies. In the last two of these Kenya was represented in its own right, so that East Africa was effectively a Ugandan, Tanzanian and Zambian team. The Argentina national cricket team is the team that represents the country of Argentina in international cricket. The 1979 ICC Trophy was a limited overs cricket tournament held in England between 22 May and 21 June 1979. It was the inaugural ICC Trophy tournament to be staged, with matches between the 15 participating teams played over 60 overs a side and with white clothing and red balls. All matches were played in the Midlands. The tournament served as the Cricket World Cup qualification process – the two finalists, Sri Lanka and Canada, qualified to take part in the 1979 World Cup. The World Cup began on 9 June, just three days after Sri Lanka and Canada qualified for it by winning their ICC Trophy semi-finals. The ICC Trophy final was held on 21 June at Worcestershire's ground at New Road, two days before the World Cup final. Sri Lanka won the first ICC Trophy defeating Canada in the final. Second XI Championship
The Second XI Championship is a season-long cricket competition in England that is competed for by the reserve teams of those county cricket clubs that have first-class status. The competition started in 1959 and has been contested annually ever since. All the then 17 first-class counties contested the first two competitions in 1959 and 1960; the next season when all 17 entered was 1977, though the number of teams in any one year was never lower than 14 (in 1971). Gloucestershire and Somerset entered a combined team for two seasons, 1967 and 1968. Before 1959, many second XIs of the first-class counties contested the Minor Counties Cricket Championship, winning the championship 23 times.
