Brigita Bukovec
Brigita Bukovec (born 21 May 1970) is a retired Slovenian hurdler who won an Olympic silver medal in 1996. During the Olympics she set a personal best time with 12.59 seconds. She stopped competing on top level after the 1999 season. Biography Bukovec was born in Ljubljana on 21 May 1970. Bukovec started her career as an athlete in her home country, specializing in hurdles. She ran the 100 metre below 13 for the first time in 1993. That year, she was also chosen as Slovenian Sportswoman of the Year; an award that she was to win a total of five times (the other years being 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998). Bukovec won the gold medal at the 1993 Mediterranean Games, and another gold medal at the 1994 Goodwill Games. She achieved fourth place in 60m hurdles at the 1994 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Paris and fourth place in 100m hurdles at the 1994 European Athletics Championships in Helsinki. Bukovec (Frýdek-Místek District)
( pl, , german: Bukowetz) is a municipality and village in Frýdek-Místek District in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,400 inhabitants. Polish minority makes up 26.0% of the population. Etymology The name of the village is derived from ''buk'', i.e. "beech". It refers to the beech forests that grew there. Geography Bukovec is the easternmost municipality of the country and the first municipality in the Czech Republic through which the Olza River flows. It lies in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia. The Girová Mountain at is the highest peak of the municipality. History Bukovec was established by Casimir I, Duke of Cieszyn in 1353. The settlement initially served as an economic base for the local guardhouse on the southeastern border of the Duchy of Teschen. After 200 years, the village gained a farming-pasture character. Bukovec Mountains
The Bukovec Mountains ( sk, Bukovské vrchy; hu, Ungi-határhegység) is a flysch mountain range in north-eastern Slovakia, part of the Eastern Beskids of the Outer Eastern Carpathians. It is located in the Prešov Region near the borders with Poland (Bieszczady Mountains) and Ukraine, and adjacent to the Laborec Highlands. The highest mountain is at 1,221 m AMSL.
