Buhuși
Buhuși (; hu, Buhus; yi, באהוש, Bohush) is a town in Bacău County, Romania with a population of 14,562 (2011). It was first mentioned in the 15th century when it was named "Bodești" and was a property of an important family of Boyars named "Buhuș". The town had the biggest textile factory in south-eastern Europe. But the factory has drastically reduced its capabilities after 1989 and currently employs less than 200 workers. The Runc Monastery (built in 1457), located near Buhuși, is one of the famous monasteries built by Stephen the Great of Moldavia in Moldavia during the Ottoman Wars in the 15th century. Buhuși has five primary schools and one high school, the Ion Borcea Technical College. The town administers two villages, Marginea and Runcu. Jewish community Rabbi Yitzchok Friedman, son of Rabbi Yisrael Friedman of Ruzhin, founded the Bohush Hasidic dynasty here in the mid-nineteenth century. Elisabeta Bostan
Elisabeta Bostan (born 1 March 1931) is a Romanian film director and screenwriter. She directed 25 films between 1956 and 1991. Biography Born in Buhuși, Bacău County, she attended the in Piatra Neamț, where she staged her first theater production at age 14. She then went to Bucharest, where she enrolled in the Institute of Theatre and Film I.L. Caragiale, graduating in 1954. She made her debut in 1958 with two short films, "Trei jocuri românești" and "Cloșca cu puii de aur". Bostan taught at the Institute of Theatre and Film, where she served for a period as Dean. Yisrael Friedman (November 8, 1923 – May 1, 2017) was known as the Pashkaner Rebbe (after the city of Pașcani where his grandfather served as Rebbe). He was a lecturer at the Tel Aviv University and the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and the '' rosh yeshiva'' of a ''hesder yeshiva'' in Netivot. Bacău County () is a county ( județ) of Romania, in Western Moldavia, with its capital city at Bacău. It has one commune, Ghimeș-Făget, in Transylvania. Geography This county has a total area of . Bohush (Hasidic Dynasty)
Bohush ( yi, בוהוש) is a Hasidic dynasty named for the town of Buhuși, Romania. The dynasty began in the mid-nineteenth century with Rabbi Yitzchok Friedman of Bohush, the eldest grandson of Rabbi Yisrael Friedman of Ruzhyn, and was based in that town until 1951, when his great-grandson, Rabbi Yitzchok Friedman of Bohush-Tel Aviv, moved the dynasty to Tel Aviv. Israel Friedman of Ruzhyn ( he, ישראל פרידמן מרוז'ין) (5 October 1796 – 9 October 1850Assaf, ''The Regal Way'', p. 170.), also called Israel Ruzhin, was a Hasidic ''rebbe'' in 19th-century Ukraine and Austria. Known as ''Der Heiliger Ruzhiner'' ( yi, דער הייליגער רוזשינער, "The holy one from Ruzhyn"), he conducted his court with regal pomp and splendor.
