W. K. Buckley Limited is a corporation operating in Canada that manufactures medicines for health problems such as the common cold. They also have children's medicine which are sold under the brand Jack & Jill. The company is located in Mississauga, Ontario. It is a subsidiary of Novartis. The company was founded in 1919 by William Knapp Buckley (1890 - 1978), In 1978, after W. K. Buckley's death, his adopted son Frank Buckley became the president of the company. In the mid-1980s, Frank became spokesperson promoting the "It Tastes Awful. And It Works." slogan, which became very successful. Buckley Island
Buckley Island is an island on the Ohio River in Wood County, West Virginia between Marietta, Ohio and Williamstown, West Virginia. The Interstate 77 bridge over the Ohio crosses the island's western portion. Throughout its history, Buckley Island has also been known as Kerrs Island, Duvall Island, and Meigs Island. The island is a part of the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge and can only be accessed by boat. The earliest known reference to the island is a 1770 journal entry by George Washington who was surveying the area at the time. In 1897, the Buckeye and Eureka Pipeline Company bought the island and turned it into an amusement park. In 1907, a flood washed away much of the park. The Buckley family bought the island in 1911 and it remained in their family until it was sold to the Fish and Wildlife Service for $400,000 in 1998. Buckley Park is a multi-purpose stadium on the Callan Road ( N76), near Kilkenny, Ireland. Kilkenny City (formerly EMFA) purchased of land from a local farmer by the name of Mick Murphy for £16,000. Buckley Barracks is a British Army barracks in Wiltshire, England, about north of Chippenham and west of Swindon. History The barracks are located on the technical site of the former RAF Hullavington which closed on 31 March 1992. On handover of the site to the Army in April 1993, it became known as Hullavington Barracks. The airfield part of the site was retained by the RAF and used for gliding until September 2016, when flying ceased. The Buckley Baronetcy, of Mawddwy in the County of Merioneth, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom in 1868 for Edmund Buckley, a British landowner and Conservative Party politician. He owned the Hendre Ddu Slate and Slab Company and served from 1865 to 1878 as one of the two members of parliament (MPs) for the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme. His son, also named Edmund Buckley, became the second Baronet on his father's death. The title became extinct in 1919 on the death of the second Baronet.
