Buckhart is an unincorporated community in Douglas County, Missouri, United States. The townsite is at an elevation of located on Brush Creek east of Missouri Route 95 Route 95 is a highway in southern Missouri. Its northern terminus is at Route 32 at Lynchburg in Laclede County. Its southern terminus is at U.S. Route 160 at Lutie about 2.5 miles west of the Theodosia arm of Bull Shoals Lake in Ozark Count ... on State Route CC. It is south of Drury and northeast of Gentryville. History A post office called Buckhart was established in 1884, and remained in operation until 1957. The community was named for the fact a buck was killed near the original town site. Douglas County is a county located in the south-central portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 11,578. The county seat and only incorporated community is Ava. The county was officially organized on October 19, 1857, and is named after U.S. Senator Stephen A. Douglas ( D-Illinois) and later Democratic presidential candidate. History Previously, the county seat was located at Arno, west of Ava. Prior to that, Vera Cruz (formerly called Red Bud) was the county seat. Vera Cruz is located on Bryant Creek, which flows through the middle of the county. Brush Creek is a southwest flowing stream in Douglas and Ozark counties in the Ozarks of south central Missouri. It is a tributary of Bryant Creek. The stream headwaters start on the southwest flank of Twin Knobs Peak (elevation 1404 Feet) as an intermittent stream flowing to the southwest. The stream crosses Missouri Route W just southwest of its source and passes the community of Buckhart.
