Bucharest Old Town
The Old Town is located in the center of Bucharest, Romania and is known for its nightlife. * Ion C. Brătianu Boulevard crosses the historic center from north to south, dividing this area into two approximately equal parts. Also in this perimeter is the beginning of the Calea Moșilor. Bucharest
Bucharest ( , ; ro, București ) is the capital and largest city of Romania, as well as its cultural, industrial, and financial centre. Strada Covaci
Strada is a chain based in the United Kingdom of branded restaurants specialising in Italian cuisine with two Strada sites and six Coppa Clubs, all in Southern England. History The concept was spawned by Luke Johnson in 2000 and, over five years, expanded to thirty restaurants. In September 2005, Richard Caring bought the chain from Johnson for £60m. Lipscani
Lipscani is a street and a district of Bucharest, Romania, which from the Middle Ages to the early 19th century was the most important commercial area of the city and Wallachia. It is located near the ruins of the old Princely Court built by Vlad III the Impaler. History It was named after Leipzig (''Lipsca'' in 17th century Romanian), as that was the origin of many of the wares that could be found on the main street. The word ''lipscan'' (singular of ''lipscani'') meant trader who brought his wares from Western Europe. All trades were found in the area, including goldsmiths, hatters, shoemakers, tanners, saddlemakers, etc., many guilds (or ''isnafuri'') having their own street: even nowadays, the nearby streets bear the name of a trade (''Blănari'' = ''Furriers'' street, ''Șelari'' = ''Saddlemakers'' street, etc.). Curtea Veche
Curtea Veche (the Old Princely Court) was built as a palace or residence during the rule of Vlad III Dracula in 1459. Archaeological excavations started in 1953, and now the site is operated by the ''Muzeul Municipiului București'' in the historic centre of Bucharest, Romania. Voivode’s Palace Vlad the Impaler's reign was dominated by conflicts with the Ottoman Empire, hence the necessity to permanently watch over and protect the southern border, the Danube, made him stay in the fortified town on the Dâmbovița banks. He issued a Latin document on 13 June 1458 from the area of current Bucharest. Then, on 20 September 1459, he issued a document in Slavonic, specifically referring to the "fortress" in Bucharest, his "princely residence". Other documents were issued in 1460 and 1461.
