Buceo is a ''barrio'' (neighbourhood or district) in Montevideo, Uruguay. Montevideo () is the Capital city, capital and List of cities in Uruguay, largest city of Uruguay. Rambla Of Montevideo
The Rambla of Montevideo is an avenue (landscape), avenue that goes all along the coastline of Montevideo, Uruguay. At a length of over 22.2 uninterrupted kilometres (13.7 mi), the promenade runs along the Río de la Plata and continues down the entire coast of Montevideo. Since all the southern departments of Uruguay are against either the Río de la Plata or the Atlantic Ocean, they all have ramblas as well. The Rambla is an integral part of Montevidean identity and has been proposed as a List of World Heritage Sites in the Americas, World Heritage site. Greetingman
''Greetingman'' ( ko, 그리팅맨) is a modern sculpture project in South Korea. Its main artist is Yoo Young-ho (South Korean sculptor). The concept provides a man, 6 meters high, bowing in a typically Asian greeting gesture. The blue color means lack of prejudice. In October 2012, a statue was unveiled in the neighbourhood of Buceo, Montevideo, Uruguay, with South Korea being the antipode of Uruguay, the statues represent two men greeting each other from opposites sides of the world, however, this was the first of a planned world series in multiple locations. The second statue was unveiled in October 2013 in South Korea, near the Korean Demilitarized Zone, in Haean, Yanggu County, Gangwon. Montevideo Shopping
Montevideo Shopping Center is the first shopping mall that opened in Montevideo, Uruguay. It is located in the neighborhood Buceo, on the border with Pocitos, right in front of the World Trade Center Montevideo. The mall Opened in 1985 and later expanded, it has 181 shops on three levels; parking place for 2051 vehicles on six levels. It was created by Estudio Gómez Platero, López Rey Estudio Gómez Platero, with the intervention of the engineer Eladio Dieste in the original brick structure. The original idea for the mall came from the accountant Luis Eugenio Lecueder. The seagull design was made by cartoonist Gabriel Odera. The mall is managed by the Estudio Luis E. The British Cemetery, Montevideo
The British Cemetery of Montevideo ( es, Cementerio Británico) is one of the oldest operating cemeteries in Uruguay. History This land, now on Central Avenue, was known as the ''Cementerio de los Ingleses'' as during the failed British invasions of the River Plate a battle took place there on 20 January 1807, known as the Battle of Cardal, against forces of Vazquez Feijoo and where several British soldiers were killed. Their comrades buried their bodies on the land on which they had fallen. Shortly afterwards on 3 February, the Battle of Montevideo and for one month the city was occupied by the British till they were defeated in Buenos Aires and had to definitively withdrew from the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata. World Trade Center Montevideo
The World Trade Center Montevideo (WTC Montevideo) is a building complex located in Montevideo, Uruguay. It was officially opened in 1998, and renovated between 2002 and 2009. The official motto is ''"Work in the best place to live"''. Location The WTC Montevideo is only 30 minutes away from Carrasco International Airport and 15 minutes away from the Port of Montevideo. Aparicio Saraiva
Aparicio Saravia da Rosa (August 16, 1856 – September 10, 1904) was a Uruguayan politician and military leader. He was a member of the Uruguayan National Party and was a revolutionary leader against the Uruguayan government. Early life He was born in Cerro Largo, Uruguay, the fourth of thirteen children of Brazilians Francisco Saraiva and Pulpicia da Rosa (his surname was later Hispanicized to "Saravia"). He was raised and educated mostly in the countryside, but he also had some higher education. At his father's death, the Saravia brothers inherited a vast estate, Estancia El Cordobés, in the department of Cerro Largo, on the frontier with the Brazilian state Rio Grande do Sul. Since the borders between Brazil and Uruguay were not clearly delineated, the Saravia brothers had very close ties to Rio Grande do Sul and its revolutionary movements.
