Buccaneer State Park
Buccaneer State Park is a public recreation area in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The state park is located off U.S. Highway 90 and Beach Boulevard ( Mississippi Highway 606), straddling the line between Waveland and Clermont Harbor. Waveland, Mississippi
Waveland is a city located in Hancock County, Mississippi, United States, on the Gulf of Mexico. It is part of the Gulfport–Biloxi, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city of Waveland was incorporated in 1972. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 6,435. Waveland was nearly destroyed by Hurricane Camille on August 17, 1969, and by Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005. The current mayor of Waveland is Mike Smith. History Andrew Jackson once lived and owned land in Waveland on what is now known as Jackson Ridge. Much of Jackson Ridge later became Buccaneer State Park. It travels entirely along the coastline of the Mississippi Sound, which is part of the Gulf of Mexico. Clermont Harbor, Mississippi
Clermont Harbor is an unincorporated community on the western end of Hancock County on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. It is part of the Gulfport–Biloxi, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area. Clermont Harbor is located directly on the coastline, with the main road in and out of town being Beach Boulevard (unsigned Mississippi Highway 606). Buccaneer State Park lies on the eastern boundary of the community. The community lies along the CSX Transportation line. A post office operated under the name Clermont Harbor from 1913 to 1989.
