Bu-ikikaesu
is the third studio album by Japanese rock band Maximum the Hormone. It was the band's first album to chart on the Oricon charts, debuting at number five and selling 70,000 copies in its first week, after which it remained on the charts for seventy-eight weeks. The RIAJ certified the album Gold, selling more than 100,000 copies in Japan and 250,000 worldwide. In September 2007, ''Rolling Stone Japan'' rated ''Bu-ikikaesu'' #98 on their list of the "100 Greatest Japanese Rock Albums of All Time". Three tracks went on for use in two anime series. "What's Up, People?!" and "Zetsubō Billy" were used as the opening and ending, respectively, for episodes 20–37 of '' Death Note''. The song "Akagi" was used for the anime of the same name. Maximum The Hormone
is a Japanese heavy metal band from Hachiōji, Tokyo. Their lineup has consisted of vocalist Daisuke-han, drummer Nao, guitarist Maximum the Ryo-kun, and bassist Ue-chan since 1999. Each member alternates singing lead vocals, often within the same song, with the exception of Ue-chan, who provides backup vocals almost exclusively. The group is best known for their unconventional and experimental style of alternative metal music. Over their career, they have found success incorporating elements of heavy metal, hardcore punk, hip hop, pop, funk, and ska into their sound. Stylistically, their music runs the gamut from being dark and serious, to ironic or humorous, often with drastic shifts in tempo and mood over the course of a song. Futoshi Uehara
, born April 15, 1980 and also known as , is a Japanese bassist and current member of rock band Maximum The Hormone. He was the last to join the band in replacement of their former bassist "Key" who departed the band in 1999. He is the youngest member of the band. Uehara's playing style is highly influenced by Flea, the bassist for the band Red Hot Chili Peppers. Uehara is characterized by his twangy and heavy slapping and popping bass style, which is unique in nu metal, as it is more of a funky bass playing style. In many of the band's songs his playing is easily audible over the harsh vocals and guitar riffs. He plays a Sadowsky RV4 and a Modulus FB4 and also sports tattoos that resemble those of his idol, Flea. Nao Kawakita
, simply known as , is the drummer and backup vocalist of Japanese nu metal band Maximum the Hormone. Career Nao is the co-founding member of Maximum the Hormone with Daisuke Tsuda. She recruited her brother Ryo Kawakita to play guitar after Sugi and Key left the band. Her drumming is heavy with the band's sound, while her vocals are light and pop-styled. Nao announced in January 2009 that she was going to get married. In November 2009 it was announced that she is pregnant. At first it was decided that the band would not book any more shows, but would proceed with all booked shows. However, on November 3, after the Jigokuezu 2009 Akihabara show, Nao was ill with bleeding and abdominal pain. Daisuke Tsuda (musician)
, also known as Daisuke-han (ダイスケはん), is the harsh vocalist of the Japanese band Maximum the Hormone, while fellow band member Ryo Kawakita does most of the clean voices. , also known as Maximum the Ryo (マキシマムザ亮君 ''Makishimamu Za Ryō-kun''), is the guitarist, songwriter and singer of Japanese metal band Maximum the Hormone.
