Halfdan Bryn
Halfdan Bryn (20 May 1864 – 5 March 1933) was a Norwegian physician and physical anthropologist. Early life Bryn was born in Trondheim, Norway, the son of physician Thomas Bryn (1813–1902) and Kristine Emilie Karoline Richter (1826–1869). He was a grandson of Thomas Bryn, Sr., and a brother of Knud Ørn Bryn and Alfred Jørgen Bryn. In November 1892, he married Wilhelmine "Willa" Thane (1873–1929). He was also an uncle of Alf Bonnevie Bryn and Finn Bryn. Bryn took his examen artium in 1882 and graduated cand.med. from the University of Oslo in 1889. Military career Bryn first practiced as a physician in Dakota and New York between 1890 and 1891, before working as a chief resident at the hospital in Trondheim from 1891 to 1892, and then starting his own medical practice. Olaf Bryn
Olaf Bryn (9 June 1872 – 8 October 1948) was a Norwegian farmer and politician for the Conservative Party. He was born in Bærum as a son of Thron Bryn (1836–1890) and his wife Karen Tanum (1846–1920). He finished middle school in 1890, and subsequently ran the farms Bryn and Rud in Western Bærum. He was a first cousin and brother-in-law of fellow politician Alf Staver. He was a member of Bærum municipal council from 1901 to 1922, serving as deputy mayor from 1904 to 1909 and mayor from 1910 to 1916. He was later elected to the Parliament of Norway from Akershus in 1921 and 1924, and later served as a deputy representative during the term 1928–1930. As a member of the Norwegian Agrarian Association, he was one of four delegates from Bærum at the meeting in 1920 that decided to found the Agrarian Party. Thomas Bryn
Thomas Bryn (29 March 1782 – 6 September 1827) was a Norwegian jurist, magistrate and civil servant. He served as a representative at the Norwegian Constitutional Assembly. Thomas Bryn was born at Kongsberg in Buskerud, Norway. Bryn was the son of Thomas Thomassen Bryn (1756-1830) who was director of mining at the Kongsberg Silver Mines. He first worked as a printer's assistant and later clerk in Buskerud. After a few years of service, he traveled to the University of Copenhagen to study law. In 1805, he earned his law degree and returned to Kongsberg. He some found work in the administration of District Governor Herman Wedel Jarlsberg. In 1808, he married Susanne Lind (1783 - 1827). The couple had eight children. The family lived at Klubbgaarden in Larvik and owned the Lunde farm in Tjølling. In 1810 he was appointed judge in Østre Råbyggelaget. Yngvar Bryn
Yngvar Bryn (17 December 1881 – 30 April 1947) was a Norwegian track and field athlete and pairs figure skater who competed in the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, and in the 1920 Summer Olympics held in Antwerp, Belgium. At just aged 18 years old, Bryn won to silver medals at the 1899 Norwegian Athletic Championships in the 100 metres and 500 metre races, in 1901 and 1902 he became the Norwegian Champion in the 500 metres, he also became the 100 metres Norwegian record holder in 1902 when he recorded at time of 11.1 seconds. In 1900 he participated in the 200 metres competition and in the 400 metres competition. In both events he was eliminated in the first round. As a track and field athlete Bryn was representing IK Tjalve. Bryn was elected president of the Norwegian Athletics Association in 1908 when aged just 26 years old, a position he held for the next three years. As a pair skater, he competed with Alexia Bryn.
