Bruntwood is a family-owned property company offering office space, serviced offices, retail space and virtual offices in the north of England and Birmingham in the United Kingdom. They own several high-profile buildings in the Manchester area, as well as in Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham. Bruntwood's portfolio of over 100 properties is worth over one billion pounds and includes over of floorspace. In October 2018, Bruntwood announced a 50:50 partnership with Legal & General Capital focussed on science and technology in regional cities. The new partnership has been named Bruntwood SciTech. Interests include Circle Square and Alderley Park. The McLaren Building
McLaren is a 69-metre, 21 storey tall office building in Birmingham, England. Designed by Paul Bonham Associates and built in 1972, it is a thin brown office building and currently the 16th tallest occupied building in Birmingham. Originally it housed part of the staff training department of Midland Bank, now HSBC. The building is owned by property company Bruntwood who purchased it from the Birmingham Alliance in 2008. It is situated on the edge of two redevelopment sites to the south and east. Masshouse to the east and Martineau Galleries to the south are due to be redeveloped at some time in the future. The entrance is on Priory Queensway, and near the junction with Moor Street Queensway. During 2009 the building was renovated with its exterior glazing given a fresh look. Manchester One
Manchester One, formerly known as Portland Tower and previously St. Andrew's House, is a high-rise building in Manchester, England, owned by Bruntwood and let out as office space. The tower is located at 53 Portland Street from which it was named. The tower was one of the first high-rise buildings built in the 1960s and 1970s in the United Kingdom. In 2002, the west side of the tower was painted bright yellow and boasted the logo for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. It was one of Manchester's tallest buildings when completed, and has since been renovated as part of Manchester city centre's regeneration. Circle Square is an area of Manchester City Centre on Oxford Road, in North West England. It is a 2.4 million sq ft development consisting of commercial buildings, student residential, private rented residential, retail and leisure space and a large public realm. Oriel Chambers is an office building located on Water Street near the town hall in Liverpool, England. It was the world's first building featuring a metal framed glass curtain wall, which has since become a defining feature of skyscrapers around the world. Abney Hall
Abney Hall is a Victorian house surrounded by a park in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, England, () built in 1847. It is a Grade II* listed building. History Early history The foundations of the hall were laid in 1842 on the site of Cheadle Grove Print Works, which had been built in 1760 and which later burned down; the hall was completed in 1847 but remodelled in the 1850s and considerably extended in the 1890s. It was originally called 'The Grove' after the print works and was going to have been the home of a mayor of Stockport, Alfred Orell, but he died in the year of its completion. The house and the associated estate (gardens and farmland) were sold to James Watts (later Sir James Watts) who rebuilt the upper storey and added two short wings in the early 1850s. Millennium House
Millennium House is a Grade II listed building in Stockport. History The building was initially established as a dispensary in 1792, and then incorporated as an infirmary in 1833. The infirmary was then expanded four times between 1871 and 1926. The building then remained unchanged until its closure in 1996. Bank Chambers
Bank Chambers is an office building on Portland Street, Manchester, England. Its heavy and imposing appearance gives away its previous use as a bullion bank vault by the Bank of England. The Bank of England vacated the building in the 1990s and the building is now used as offices. Afflecks (formerly Affleck's Palace) is an indoor market in Manchester, England, in the city's Northern Quarter on the junction of Church Street/Tib Street and Dale Street with Oldham Street. Dozens of independent stalls, small shops and boutiques operate in the one building. The building was once home to Affleck & Brown, one of the city's principal department stores. Alderley Park
Alderley Park was a country estate at Nether Alderley, Cheshire, England, between Macclesfield and Knutsford. It was the residence of the Stanley family of Alderley from the 1500s. It became the headquarters of ICI Pharmaceuticals in the 1950s. It was purchased from AstraZeneca by Bruntwood in 2014. The site has an international reputation as a home for bio and life sciences.
