Alan Brunton
Alan Mervyn Brunton (14 October 1946 – 27 June 2002) was a New Zealand poet and playwright. Biography Brunton was born in Christchurch and educated at Hamilton Boys' High School, the University of Auckland and Victoria University of Wellington. He was founding editor of Freed, and in 1970 Brunton moved to Europe and Asia, publishing Messengers in Blackface (1973, London). From 1974 to 1978 he co-founded an experimental theatre group, Red Mole with his partner Sally Rodwell. He co-edited Spleen 1976–77. He lived his latter years at Island Bay, a suburb of Wellington. He died in Amsterdam in 2002 during a visit to Europe. Works Alan Brunton's work was interwoven between his poetry and theatre. Lauder Brunton
Sir Thomas Lauder Brunton, 1st Baronet, (14 March 1844 – 16 September 1916) was a British physician who is most-closely associated with the use of amyl nitrite to treat angina pectoris. Early life Brunton was born on 14 March 1844 in Roxburgh in southeastern Scotland, the son of James Brunton (1781–1863) and his second wife Agnes Stenhouse (1807–1848). James's first wife was Euphemia Lauder (1794–1822), which gives explanation for his middle name, although he was not directly related to the Lauder's of the Bass. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, beginning research into pharmacology while still a student there, and receiving a gold medal for his 1866 thesis on digitalis. Career He left Edinburgh to work in Austria, the Netherlands, and Germany, returning to University College, London, and while there he was selected for a position at St. Bartholomew's Hospital. Violet Ella Evelyn Brunton (October 1878 – 1951), also known as Victor du Lac, was an English sculptor, painter, and illustrator. Biography Violet E.E. Brunton was born in Brighouse, Yorkshire; her father, Arthur D. Brunton, was also an artist. She was educated at the Southport School of Art, the Liverpool School of Art, and finally, the Royal College of Art in London. She trained in woodcarving, miniature painting, and illustration. She won a County Palatine Scholarship and a City of Liverpool scholarship and a number of medals while still a student. By 1903–04, Brunton's distinctive illustrations, drawings, and designs were being published in art magazines. Robbie Brunton (5 September 1973 – 1 October 2020) was an Irish footballer who played as a left-back during the 1990s and 2000s. Career Brunton joined the nursery club Belvedere at the age of 8 and played for them for nine years until he signed for Stoke City as an apprentice in 1991. He signed professional forms the following year but never made the breakthrough to the first team and returned to Ireland to sign for Sligo Rovers in 1994. He lost two FAI Cup semi-finals and a FAI League Cup during his time at Sligo all to Shelbourne, where he made 60 league appearances. Richard Henry Brunton
Richard Henry Brunton FRGS MICE (26 December 1841 – 24 April 1901) was the so-called " Father of Japanese lighthouses". Brunton was born in Muchalls, Kincardineshire, Scotland. He was employed by the government of Meiji period Japan as a foreign advisor (''o-yatoi gaikokujin''), primarily to build lighthouses. Over a period of seven and a half years he designed and supervised the building of 26 Japanese lighthouses in the Western style, which became known as Brunton's "children". To operate the lighthouses he established a system of lighthouse keepers, based on the one used in Scotland. He also helped found Japan's first school of civil engineering. Peter Norris Dupas (born 6 July 1953) is an Australian convicted serial killer, currently serving three life sentences without parole for murder and primarily for being a serious habitual offender. Paul Brunton is the pen name of Raphael Hurst (21 October 1898 – 27 July 1981), a British author of spiritual books. He is best known as one of the early popularizers of Neo-Hindu spiritualism in western esotericism, notably via his bestselling ''A Search in Secret India'' (1934) which has been translated into over 20 languages.
