Bruce Flegg
Bruce Stephen Flegg (born 10 March 1954, Sydney) is a former Australian politician. He was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly from 2004 to 2015, representing the electorate of Moggill in south-western Brisbane for the Liberal Party and its successor the Liberal National Party. He was the leader of the state Liberal Party from 2006 to 2007 and served as Minister for Housing and Public Works in the Newman government from April to November 2012. Early life Flegg was born in Sydney and was a general practitioner before entering politics. Flegg completed a post graduate diploma in Financial Markets, winning the Queensland Investment Corporation prize for industrial equity analysis. Campbell Newman
Campbell Kevin Thomas Newman (born 12 August 1963) is a former Australian politician who served as the 38th Premier of Queensland from 26 March 2012 to 14 February 2015. He served as the member for Ashgrove in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland between 24 March 2012 and 31 January 2015. He was LNP Leader from 2 April 2011 to 7 February 2015; Newman previously served as the 15th Lord Mayor of Brisbane from 27 March 2004 to 3 April 2011. Moggill is an electoral district in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in the state of Queensland, Australia. The electorate is held by Dr Christian Rowan, for the Liberal National Party of Queensland. Moggill encompasses the suburbs on the south-western fringe of Brisbane, and is named for the suburb of Moggill. It also includes Chapel Hill, Pullenvale, Brookfield, Kenmore, Karana Downs and Mount Crosby. It had long been the most conservative seat in Brisbane. Indeed, during the Labor landslides of 2001 and 2004, it was the only non-Labor seat in Brisbane. However, in recent years, it has become somewhat more marginal. At its height in 2012, the LNP sat on a majority of 23.9 percent, which was pared back to 8.2 percent in 2015, five percent in 2017 and three percent in 2020. Michael Lavarch
Michael Hugh Lavarch AO (born 8 June 1961) is an Australian lawyer, educator and former politician. He was the Attorney-General for Australia between 1993 and 1996, and from 2004 to 2012 was Executive Dean of the Faculty of Law at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), his alma mater, where he has been since then emeritus professor. he is co-chair, with Jackie Huggins, of the Eminent Panel for the Indigenous treaty process in Queensland. Early life and education Lavarch earned his Bachelor of Laws at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Career Lavarch commenced his legal career in Brisbane as a solicitor. The 1993 Australian federal election was held to determine the members of the 37th Parliament of Australia. It was held on 13 March 1993. All 147 seats of the Australian House of Representatives and 40 seats of the 76-seat Australian Senate were up for election. The Division of Petrie is an Australian Electoral Division in Queensland. History The division was created in 1949 and named after Andrew Petrie (1798–1872), a noted civil engineer, pioneer, and explorer, and the first free settler in Brisbane (1837). The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Elections are held every four years and are done by full preferential voting.
