Brovst Speedway Club
Brovst Speedway Club also known as Nordjysk Elite Speedway is a motorcycle speedway club from Brovst in Denmark, who competed in the Danish Speedway League until 2010, and then again in 2021. They are three times champions of Denmark, having won the title in 1990, 1998 and 2000. Track The home venue of the club is the Brovst Speedway Center, which is located north of Brovst on the Over Søen 12, from Brovst to Tranum. History 1957 to 1991 The club was founded by name in 1991 but previous to this the origins of the club were started in 1957, with the founding of the Han Herreds Motor Klub (HaMK). In 1973, HaMK opened a speedway track in Mou Kær, the club had previously ran Motocross events. The new spedway track was a small track used mainly for 50cc machines. Brovst
Brovst is a town in North Jutlandic Island, North Jutland, Denmark. It is located in Jammerbugt Municipality, 16 km east of Fjerritslev, 14 km southwest of Aabybro and 2 km east and northeast of the villages of Ny Skovsgård and Skovsgård. Until 1 January 2007 Brovst was the seat of the former Brovst Municipality. History Brovst is first mentioned in 1458 as ''Brosth''. A train station was built in Brovst in 1897, and Brovst was a stop on the Fjerritslev-Nørresundby railroad throughout the railroad's history. Leon Madsen
Leon Madsen (born 5 September 1988) is a Danish speedway rider who is twice a World Championship silver medalist. Career Born in Vejle, Madsen won the 80cc junior World Championship in 2001. In 2018 and 2022, Madsen won the Individual Speedway European Championship. In 2019 and 2022 he was the silver medalist in the Speedway World Championship, on both occasions he finished runner-up behind Bartosz Zmarzlik. 2021 Danish Speedway Season
Individual Individual Championship The 2021 Danish Individual Speedway Championship was the 2021 edition of the Danish Individual Speedway Championship. As in 2020, the final was staged over a single round at the Vojens Speedway Center. For the second year in a row, the title was won by Anders Thomsen, who beat Nicki Pedersen, Leon Madsen and Kenneth Bjerre. Each rider competed in five rides, with the four top scorers racing in an additional heat. The points from the additional heat were then added to the previous score from the five riders. The winner was the rider who accumulated the most points in all of their rides, and not the rider who won the additional heat. Individual Individual Championship The 2010 Danish Individual Speedway Championship was the 2010 edition of the Danish Individual Speedway Championship. The final was staged over two rounds, at Esbjerg and Holsted, and was won by Kenneth Bjerre for the first time. The competition started with two quarter finals, with three progressing to the semi-final from the first and four from the second. The top nine then officially qualified from the semi-final, joining six seeded riders and a wild card in the final series. The final series was held over two rounds, with the top four scorers from the two rounds then competing in a Grand Final. The points from the Grand Final were then added to the total score and the overall winner was the rider with the most total points. Gert Handberg
Gert Handberg (born 30 May 1969 in Brædstrup, Denmark) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider form Denmark. Career Gert joined Cradley Heathens in 1988 on a recommendation, after winning the Danish Junior Championship during the 1986 Danish speedway season. He rode for the club for six consecutive seasons. In 1992, he became the champion of Denmark. He was a member of the Denmark speedway team when they won the 1991 World Team Cup. He also won the World Under-21 Championship in 1989 and finished 3rd in the 1992 senior world final. Hans Andersen (speedway Rider)
Hans Nørgaard Andersen (born 3 November 1980, in Odense, Denmark) is a motorcycle speedway rider who captained the Denmark speedway team that won the Speedway World Cup in 2006 and 2008. Career summary Despite being originally left out of the 2006 Speedway Grand Prix series, he replaced the retired Tony Rickardsson, eventually winning two Grand Prix meetings and finishing sixth in the final standings. He also became only the third rider to win a GP as a wild card. In 2007, Andersen became Danish National Champion for the first time. Andersen left his British club, Peterborough Panthers, mid-season in July 2008 after it emerged that the club had not paid him wages amounting to several thousand pounds. Shortly afterwards he signed for Coventry Bees and teamed up with Chris Harris to win the Elite League Pairs Championship. Nicki Pedersen
Nicki Pedersen (born 2 April 1977) is a Danish motorcycle speedway rider. He has won the World Championship in 2003, 2007 and 2008 and was a World Cup winner with Denmark in 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. His brother, Ronni Pedersen, has also ridden in the Speedway Grand Prix and World Cup. Career Domestic teams Pedersen began speedway racing aged 11 at Danish club Fjelsted. He started his Polish speedway career in 1999 with Polish second division club Start Gniezno and has since ridden for GTŻ Grudziądz, Wybrzeże Gdańsk, ZKŻ Zielona Góra and ŻKS ROW Rybnik. Hans Nielsen (speedway Rider)
Hans Hollen Nielsen (born 26 December 1959) is a Danish former professional motorcycle speedway rider. He competed in the Speedway World Championships from 1977 to 1999. Nielsen is notable for winning four Speedway World Championship titles. During his career, he won a total of 22 World Championships, making him arguably the most successful speedway rider of all time. In 2012, Nielsen was named an FIM Legend for his motorcycling achievements. He later managed the Danish national team. Career Nielsen was born in Arentsminde near Brovst, Denmark. He was one of, if not the most successful riders the sport has ever seen. North Jutlandic Island
The North Jutlandic Island (), Vendsyssel-Thy, or Jutland north of the Limfjord (''Jylland nord for Limfjorden''), is the northernmost part of Denmark and of Jutland. It is more common to refer to the three traditional districts Vendsyssel, Hanherred and Thy, however. The area has been intermittently a tied island, and during modern times was not surrounded by water until a storm in February 1825, which severed the region from the remainder of Jutland and caused a water connection between the North Sea and the western end of the Limfjord. Hence it is traditionally regarded as a part of Jutland rather than a separate island. Geographically, it is the second largest island of Denmark after Zealand (excluding Greenland) with a population of 294,424 on 1 January 2020. 309,834 lived on the island in 1981.
