Long Marton is a village and civil parish in the Eden District of the English county of Cumbria. In 2011 the population was 827. The village previously had a railway station called Long Marton railway station which closed in 1970. Within the parish are also the hamlets of Marton Moor and Broom. Long Marton also has a pub. Eden District
Eden is a local government district in Cumbria, England, based at Penrith Town Hall in Penrith. It is named after the River Eden, which flows north through the district toward Carlisle. Its population of 49,777 at the 2001 census, increased to 52,564 at the 2011 Census. A 2019 estimate was 53,253. In July 2021 it was announced that in April 2023, Cumbria will divide into two unitary authorities. Appleby-in-Westmorland is a market town and civil parish in the Eden District of Cumbria, England, with a population of 3,048 at the 2011 Census. Crossed by the River Eden, Appleby was the county town of the historic county of Westmorland. Dufton
Dufton is a village and civil parish in Cumbria, England. Historically part of Westmorland, it lies in the Eden Valley and below Great Dun Fell. It is mostly around 180m above sea level. At the 2001 census the parish had a population of 169, increasing to 204 at the 2011 Census The centre of the village is built around a green, on the north side of which is the Stag Inn. Appleby Railway Station (Cumbria)
Appleby is a railway station on the Settle and Carlisle Line, which runs between and via . The station, situated south-east of Carlisle, serves the market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland, Eden in Cumbria. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains. The station was formerly known as ''Appleby West'', with the older Appleby East station located nearby on the Eden Valley Railway. The buildings of Appleby East still survive. History The station was designed by the Midland Railway company architect John Holloway Sanders. Opened by the Midland Railway at the same time as the line itself in May 1876, it became part of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway during the Grouping of 1923.
