A versatile author, she is best known for her 1936 hit play '' The Women'', which had an all-female cast. George Tuttle Brokaw
George Tuttle Brokaw (November 14, 1879 – May 28, 1935) was an American lawyer and sportsman. Early life He was born in the Elberon section of Long Branch, New Jersey, a son of Isaac Vail Brokaw, who with his brother, William, owned the New York City-based Brokaw Brothers clothing stores from 1856 until his death in 1914. His elder brother Irving Brokaw was a national ice skating champion and competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics, finishing fourth in the men's competition. As the eldest child, George inherited the right to live for life in the Brokaw Mansion at 1 East 79th Street in Manhattan, and later fought with his brother, Howard C. Chris Brokaw
Chris Brokaw (born August 1, 1964) is an American musician, best known for his work with the bands Come and Codeine. Life and career While studying at Oberlin College, Brokaw met many people who became figures on the American indie rock scene of the 1990s, among them Stephen Immerwahr, with whom Brokaw formed Codeine, as well as Sooyoung Park of Bitch Magnet and Seam, John McEntire of Tortoise, and Liz Phair. Soon after graduating from Oberlin, Brokaw played drums for a number of bands, including 7 Or 8 Worm Hearts and G.G. Allin. He then joined Codeine and played drums on their first two studio albums, as well as helping to kick-start Liz Phair's career. Gary George Brokaw (born January 11, 1954) is a retired American basketball player and a basketball coach. Playing career Brokaw attended New Brunswick High School. Isaac Brokaw
Isaac Brokaw (9 March 1746 – 16 September 1826) was a clockmaker from New Jersey. Biography Brokaw was born in Raritan in Somerset County, but would leave for Elizabethtown where he would work as an apprentice under Aaron Miller, a renowned clockmaker. He would later marry Miller's daughter, Elizabeth Miller. In 1770, Brokaw was living in Bridgewater when a local judge ordered that his property be sold off in order to pay off his outstanding debts. However, he was allowed to keep 30 lb of lead in order to continue his trade. Shortly thereafter he would again leave for Elizabeth, where he would produce some of his first significant works. Aaron Miller died in 1778, and left part of his clockmaking tools to him as his son-in-law. In 1790 Isaac and Elizabeth relocated to Bridge Town (today known as Rahway). Isaac Vail Brokaw (November 27, 1835 – September 29, 1913) was a pioneer New York City clothing merchant who headed Brokaw Brothers. Early life He was born in November 27, 1835 in Plainfield, New Jersey to Simeon Brokaw (1792–1854) and Prudence Vail (1795–1887). His siblings included Jemima Vail Brokaw (1824–1838) and William Vail Brokaw (1831–1907). Irving Brokaw
Isaac Irving Brokaw (March 29, 1871 – March 18, 1939) was an American figure skater, artist, lawyer, and financier. He represented the United States at the 1908 Summer Olympics in the figure skating competition, becoming the first American to compete in a sport included in the Winter Olympic program. After he won an international prize in Switzerland, he brought the International Style of skating back to the United States. His book, "Art of Skating" was known as the figure skater's bible.
