Brockville Braves
The Brockville Braves are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Brockville, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the Central Canada Hockey League. Such NHLers as Larry Robinson and current player Wayne Simmonds of the Toronto Maple Leafs, amongst other famous players, have all played for the Braves. History The Brockville Braves (est. 1963) are the oldest continuously operated franchise in the CCHL. In 1979, the team received national attention after being left homeless from an arena collapse. They played their home games at Cardinal and Rockland. It took until 1986 for the Brockville Braves to win a CJHL championships. They clinched the Bogart Cup on a late April night, defeating their nemesis Pembroke 8-7 in the finals. Braves' goalie Jacques Breault was the hero, as with 22 seconds to go in the game, turned away a penalty shot by the league's all-time leading scorer Luc Chabot. Brockville, Ontario
Brockville, formerly Elizabethtown, is a city in Eastern Ontario, Canada, in the Thousand Islands region. Although it is the seat of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, it is politically independent of the county. It is included with Leeds and Grenville for census purposes only. Known as the "City of the 1000 Islands", Brockville is located on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River, about halfway between Kingston to the west and Cornwall to the east. The Ligue de Hockey Junior du Québec (LHJQ) or Quebec Junior Hockey League (QJHL) is a Hockey Québec Canadian Junior A ice hockey league and is a member of Hockey Canada and the Canadian Junior Hockey League. The winner of the QJHL playoffs competes for the Fred Page Cup against the winners of the Central Junior A Hockey League and the Maritime Hockey League and the host team, which is on a three-year cycle between the MHL, CJHL and LHJQ. The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league under Hockey Canada, a part of the Canadian Junior Hockey League. It consists of five teams from New Brunswick and one team from Prince Edward Island, which make up the EastLink North Division (formerly Roger Meek), and six teams from Nova Scotia which make up the Eastlink South Division. Kanata Lasers
The Kanata Lasers were a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Ottawa, Ontario, in Canada. They are a part of the Central Canada Hockey League. The Lasers played their home games at The Tom Flood Arena located inside the Kanata Rec Complex in Kanata, Ontario. Team history The Kanata Valley Lasers began play in the Central Junior Hockey League in 1987-88 when an expansion franchise was granted to Kanata, Ontario, which was then a separate suburb of Ottawa. During their first 15 years as the Valley Lasers, the team never missed the playoffs, had the same head coach, Archie Mulligan, won 2 Art Bogart Cup championships in 1992 and 1997 won the Fred Page Cup in 1997. In May 2002, the Kanata Sports Club sold the Kanata Valley Lasers to Dynasty Flooring Inc. The new ownership refurbished the team, renamed them the Kanata Stallions, and moved from the Jack Charron Arena to the Kanata Recreation Centre. The Carleton Place Canadians are a junior ice hockey team based in Carleton Place, Ontario Canada. The Canadians are members of the Central Canada Hockey League and Canadian Junior Hockey League, and as such are eligible for the Eastern Canadian Fred Page Cup championship and Royal Bank Cup National championship. History The Carleton Place Kings began play in 1969 in the Renfrew-Lanark Junior C Hockey League. Cumberland Grads
The Navan Grads are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Navan, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the Central Canada Hockey League. History In the Summer of 1974, the residents of Navan, Ontario banded together and purchased the rights of the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League's Rockland Boomers. They moved them to Navan, and the Grads were born. In 1989, the board of directors for the Navan Grads felt that the region of Cumberland would be better suited with a team that reflected the region. The team's name from then on was the "Cumberland Grads" from 1989 to 2017. In the Summer of 1991, the Grads became the 10th team in the Central Junior A Hockey League and have been a member of the CJHL ever since. Vernon Vipers
The Vernon Vipers are a junior "A" ice hockey team based in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. They are members of the Interior Conference of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). They play their home games at Kal Tire Place. History The Vernon Jr. Canadians, Penticton Jr. Vees, Kelowna Buckaroos and Kamloops Rockets, four junior "B" teams, formed the Okanagan-Mainline Junior Hockey League in 1961 on the advice and determination of Canadians owner Bill Brown. La Ronge Ice Wolves
The La Ronge Ice Wolves are a Canadian junior "A" ice hockey team based out of La Ronge, Saskatchewan. They play out of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and play their homes games at the Mel Hegland Uniplex which has a seating capacity of 1,200. History Despite finishing fourth in their division and seventh overall in the league, the La Ronge Ice Wolves defeated the Humboldt Broncos, Flin Flon Bombers, Battlefords North Stars, and Yorkton Terriers to clinch their first SJHL Credit Union Cup. Ice Wolves' forward Liam Brennan was named playoff MVP after scoring a hat-trick overtime goal winning the series.
