Brock Dykxhoorn
Brock D. Dykxhoorn (born July 2, 1994) is a Canadian professional baseball pitcher for the Uni-President Lions of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). He previously played in the KBO League for the SK Wyverns and Lotte Giants. Career Amateur career Dykxhoorn attended St. Anne's Catholic Secondary School in Clinton, Ontario, and Central Arizona College. Houston Astros The Houston Astros selected Dykxhoorn in the sixth round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft, and signed him for a $250,000 signing bonus. After signing, Dykxhoorn was assigned to the Greeneville Astros where he went 3–3 with a 4.31 ERA in 12 games. In 2015, he played for the Quad Cities River Bandits, posting an 8–5 record and 3.88 ERA. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. Baseball competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto was held from July 11 to 26 at the Pan Am Ball Park, in Ajax, Ontario. The Corpus Christi Hooks are a Minor League Baseball team of the Texas League and the Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. They are located in Corpus Christi, Texas, and are named for the city's association with fishing. The team is owned by the Houston Astros. The Lancaster JetHawks were a baseball team located in Lancaster, California. They were named for the city's association with the aerospace industry and played their home games at The Hangar. From 1996 to 2020, they were members of Minor League Baseball's California League, a Class A-Advanced league affiliated with Major League Baseball (MLB). The Greeneville Astros were a Minor League Baseball team that played in the Rookie-level Appalachian League from 2004 to 2017. They represented the town of Greeneville, Tennessee, though Pioneer Park, their home stadium, was located in nearby Tusculum on the campus of Tusculum College.
