Brock Barracks is a British Army barracks in the town of Reading, Berkshire, Reading in the English county of Berkshire. Located on Oxford Road, Reading, Oxford Road in the district of West Reading, Berkshire, West Reading. The majority of the buildings and structures within Brock Barracks are Listed building, Grade II listed. History The barracks, which were named after Major-General Isaac Brock, Sir Isaac Brock, were built in the Gothic Revival architecture, Fortress Gothic Revival Style and completed in 1881. Their creation took place as part of the Cardwell Reforms which encouraged the localisation of British military forces. Royal Berkshire Regiment
The Royal Berkshire Regiment (Princess Charlotte of Wales's) was a line infantry regiment of the British Army in existence from 1881 until 1959. The regiment was created in 1881, as the Princess Charlotte of Wales's (Royal Berkshire Regiment), by the amalgamation of the 49th (Princess Charlotte of Wales's) (Hertfordshire) Regiment of Foot and the 66th (Berkshire) Regiment of Foot. The Wessex Regiment was a Territorial Army infantry regiment of the British Army, in existence from 1967 to 1995. Initially consisting of a singular battalion, the regiment was later expanded to also have a second. The Army Reserve is the active-duty volunteer reserve force of the British Army. It is separate from the Regular Reserve whose members are ex-Regular personnel who retain a statutory liability for service. The Wiltshire Regiment was a line infantry regiment of the British Army, formed in 1881 under the Childers Reforms by the amalgamation of the 62nd (Wiltshire) Regiment of Foot and the 99th Duke of Edinburgh's (Lanarkshire) Regiment of Foot.
