Broad Green, Merseyside
Broadgreen (officially Broad Green) is an eastern suburb of Liverpool, Merseyside, England. On the edge of the city, it is bordered by Old Swan to the north-west, Knotty Ash to the north-east, Childwall to the south and, further east, Bowring Park. Until 2004, it was a Liverpool City Council ward. Description Historically a part of Lancashire, Broadgreen is primarily a residential area, made up of semi-detached and detached houses. As a small district, it is often counted with Childwall or Knotty Ash which are larger suburbs of the city. It is home to Broadgreen Hospital, Broadgreen Primary School and Dixons Broadgreen Academy. Broadgreen covers an area of just over a square mile (2.97 km2) and in the 2001 Census had a population of 14,889 (6,919 males and 7,970 females). United Kingdom Census 2001
A nationwide census, known as Census 2001, was conducted in the United Kingdom on Sunday, 29 April 2001. This was the 20th UK census and recorded a resident population of 58,789,194. Wigan
Wigan ( ) is a large town in Greater Manchester, England, on the River Douglas, Lancashire, River Douglas. The town is midway between the two cities of Manchester, to the south-east, and Liverpool, to the south-west. Bolton lies to the north-east and Warrington to the south. Broad Green Railway Station
Broad Green railway station is a railway station serving the Broadgreen district of Liverpool, England, east of Liverpool Lime Street. Electrically powered trains have been operating through the station since March 2015, using Class 319 EMUs. History The oldest passenger station in the world was Crown Street railway station on the Liverpool and Manchester passenger railway opening on 17 September 1830. The trains set out on the first day at the Liverpool end. The second station on the line was the original Edge Hill railway station, the third was Broad Green station. In 1836 Crown Street station was demolished and Edge Hill decommissioned. A new Edge Hill station opened to the north of the original station in the grounds of the Edge Hill junction. M62 Motorway
The M62 is a west–east trans-Pennine motorway in Northern England, connecting Liverpool and Hull via Manchester, Bradford, Leeds and Wakefield; of the route is shared with the M60 orbital motorway around Manchester. The road is part of the unsigned Euroroutes E20 ( Shannon to Saint Petersburg) and E22 ( Holyhead to Ishim). The motorway, which was first proposed in the 1930s, and conceived as two separate routes, was opened in stages between 1971 and 1976, with construction beginning at Pole Moor near Huddersfield and finishing at that time in Tarbock on the outskirts of Liverpool. Dixons Broadgreen Academy
Dixons Broadgreen Academy is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Liverpool, England. It was formerly known as Broadgreen High School, Broadgreen Community Comprehensive, and Broadgreen International School. The school eventually converted to academy status in December 2021 and is now sponsored by the Dixons Academies Trust. Transformation Between 2003 and 2007, the school went under a major transformation. Broadgreen Hospital
Broadgreen Hospital is a teaching hospital in the eastern suburb of Broadgreen in the city of Liverpool, England. The hospital, alongside the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Liverpool University Dental Hospital in the city centre is managed by the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. History The hospital was established as an epileptic home known as the Highfield Infirmary in 1903. It became the Highfield Sanatorium for tuberculosis sufferers in 1922, the Broadgreen Sanatorium in 1929 and, on joining the National Health Service it became the Broadgreen Hospital in 1946. Lancashire

A ward is a local authority area, typically used for electoral purposes.
