Brive-la-Gaillarde Station
Brive-la-Gaillarde is a railway station serving the town of Brive-la-Gaillarde, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. The station opened on 17 September 1860 and is located on the Orléans–Montauban railway, Coutras–Tulle railway, Brive-Toulouse (via Capdenac) railway and Nexon-Brive railway. The station is served by the Intercités avec réservation obligatoire (Intercity), Intercités sans réservation obligatoire (long distance) and TER (local) services operated by SNCF. It is an important railway junction, with lines towards Périgueux, Limoges via Saint-Yrieix, Limoges via Uzerche, Ussel, Aurillac, Rodez and Montauban. Brive-la-Gaillarde
Brive-la-Gaillarde (; Limousin dialect of oc, Briva la Galharda) is a commune of France. It is a sub-prefecture and the largest city of the Corrèze department. It has around 46,000 inhabitants, while the population of the agglomeration was 75,579 in 2019. Although it is by far the biggest commune in Corrèze, the capital is Tulle. In French popular culture, the town is associated with a song by Georges Brassens. History Even though the inhabitants settled around the 1st century, the city only started to grow much later. From around the 5th century onwards, the original city began to develop around a church dedicated to Saint-Martin-l'Espagnol. During the 12th century walls were built around the city and during the Hundred Years' War a second wall was built. These fortifications no longer exist and have been replaced by boulevards. LGV Poitiers–Limoges
The LGV Poitiers–Limoges was an approximately 100 km-long (62 mi) French high-speed rail project reserved for passenger traffic between Poitiers and Limoges. Its dual aim was: * to ensure high-speed service of the Limoges region by extending the LGV Sud Europe Atlantique. Intercités
Intercités (before September 2009: ''Corail Intercités'') is a brand name used by France’s national railway company, SNCF, to denote non high speed services on the 'classic' network in France. SNCF established the Intercités brand in January 2006 to capture the remaining, mainly medium distance network of Corail (train), Corail trains, so called because they use the air-conditioned fleet of 'Corail' coaches introduced by SNCF from 1975. Intercités covers all the important SNCF routes not served by the TGV network. Since December 2011, the Téoz (long distance trains with obligatory reservation) and Intercités de Nuit (overnight sleeper train) brands have been re-integrated and the Intercités brand now covers all non-high speed SNCF national-network passenger services. Tulle is a railway station in Tulle, in the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. The station opened on 19 June 1868, and is located on the Coutras - Tulle and Tulle - Meymac railway lines. The station is served by Intercités (long distance) and TER (local) services operated by the SNCF. The station was also on the Tulle - Uzerches railway line between 1904 and 1969. The station is a turn in / reverse out railway station, so all trains have to change direction at this station, unless they use the line avoiding Tulle. The ''Compagnie du chemin de fer de Paris à Orléans'' (PO) was an early French railway company. It merged with the ''Chemins de fer du Midi'' to form the ''Chemins de fer de Paris à Orléans et du Midi'' (PO-Midi) in 1934. In 1938 the PO-Midi was nationalized with five other companies to become a part of the ''Société nationale des chemins de fer français'' (SNCF).
