British Embassy, Stockholm
The Embassy of the United Kingdom in Stockholm is the chief diplomatic mission of the United Kingdom in Sweden. The Embassy also represents the British Overseas Territories in Sweden. It is located on Skarpögatan in the Diplomatstaden neighbourhood. The current British Ambassador to Sweden is Judith Gough. History Great Britain established a diplomatic mission in Stockholm in 1720. The current embassy building located at Skarpögatan 6-8, was opened in 1967 and was designed by the architect William S. Bryant. Since 2018, the building has also housed the New Zealand Embassy to Sweden. The British Ambassador's residence, which was built between 1914 and 1915 and was designed by Richard Allison, is located in the same area as the embassy, at Laboratoriegatan 8. Diplomatstaden (Swedish for "Diplomat City") is a neighbourhood in the Östermalm district in central Stockholm, Sweden. As the name suggests, the neighbourhood is the home of many embassies and ambassadorial residencies. Diplomatstaden encompasses the area facing the Djurgårdsbrunnsviken bay which is located south of the easternmost part of Strandvägen. New Zealand–Sweden relations refers to the bilateral relationship between New Zealand and Sweden. Diplomatic relations New Zealand opened an embassy in Stockholm during 2008 which was closed on 1 July 2012 following a change of government, however, New Zealand re-opened its embassy in Stockholm in 2018, in the chancery of the British Embassy. Lillienhoff Palace
The Lillienhoff Palace (Swedish ''Lillienhoffska palatset'') is a building located on a corner of the large square ''Medborgarplatsen'' in southcentral Stockholm, Sweden. The property is owned and managed by municipally owned AB Stadsholmen. History It was built in 1668–1670 by merchant Joachim Pötter (1630–1676), who was ennobled in 1668 under the surname of Lillienhoff, based upon blueprints were by architect Johan Tobias Albinus (ca 1635-1679). Lillienhoff was one of the larger shipowners in Stockholm. He was also a co-stakeholder in several of companies and was also a partner in the Swedish East India Company. After the death of Lillienhoff in 1676, his widow Petronella Lohe remained in the main building until her death in 1694. The facades are decorated with motifs from Dutch baroque, as was common in Stockholm's palace architecture in the middle of the 17th century.
