Brigitte MacPhail
Brigitte MacPhail (born June 19, 1987, in Grand Falls, New Brunswick) is a Canadian curler from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She currently skips her own team out of the Iqaluit Curling Club in Iqaluit. Career MacPhail made one appearance at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships, playing lead for the New Brunswick Mary Jane McGuire rink. At the 2007 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, the team finished in ninth place with a 6–6 record. After taking multiple seasons off, MacPhail joined the Christie Gamble rink for the 2015–16 season with Kaitlyn Veitch at second and Mary Mattatall at lead. The team did not have a great season on tour, failing to qualify for the playoffs in any of their five events. They finished with a 3–4 record at the 2016 Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Grand Falls, New Brunswick
Grand Falls (french: Grand-Sault) is a town located in Victoria County, New Brunswick, Canada. Grand Falls is situated on the Saint John River. The town derives its name from a waterfall created by a series of rock ledges over which the river drops . The 2018 Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship of Nova Scotia, was held from January 9 to 14 at the Dartmouth Curling Club in Dartmouth. The Dave Jones Stanhope Simpson Insurance Mayflower Cashspiel is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, held at the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Colleen Pinkney
Colleen Pinkney (born Colleen Marshall) is a Canadian curler from Truro, Nova Scotia. She is a 2009 and 2013 Canadian Senior champion skip and a two-time provincial senior champion. She won the World Senior Curling Championships in 2010. Career In 1988, Pinkney played in her first Tournament of Hearts, playing second for Judy Burgess. The team finished 3–8. In 2003, she made her second Hearts, playing third for Nancy McConnery. That team finished with a 5–6 record. She was also the alternate for Nancy McConnery in the 2009 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Pinkney won the 2009 Canadian Senior Curling Championships in Summerside by defeating British Columbia's Kathy Smiley in the final. The 2017 Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship of Nova Scotia, was held from January 24 to 29 at the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax. The winning Mary Mattatall team represented Nova Scotia at the 2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in St. Catharines, Ontario. The winning Mattatall rink were all senior-aged, with all members of the team being over 50 years old. Mattatall won her sixth provincial title of her career, and her first since 2005 when she played third for Kay Zinck. Third Andrea Saulnier and second Jill Alcoe-Holland had both won provincial seniors titles in 2010 and lead Marg Cutcliffe won the provincial masters championship in 2016 for curlers over 60. Jim Sullivan Curling Classic
The Jim Sullivan Curling Classic is an annual curling tournament or bonspiel. It used to be held at the Thistle-St. Andrew's Curling Club in Saint John, New Brunswick, but is now held at the Capital Winter Club in Fredericton. The total purse for the men's event is CAD $15,300 with the winning team receiving $5,000. The purse for the women's event is $8,250 with the winner's share being $2,000. The event is named in honour of Jim Sullivan, a curler in New Brunswick who committed suicide from depression in 2011. The event is a re-incarnation of previous bonspiels played at the Thistle-St. Andrew's Club such as the Fundy Line Cash Spiel, the Fundy Cash and the TSA Fundy Curling Classic (the latter being brought back by Sullivan in 2005). Mary Mattatall
Mary Mattatall (born April 22, 1960, in Halifax, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian curler and coach from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Career Juniors Mattatall won the 1979 Nova Scotia junior women's title with teammates Faith Tregunno, Susan McCurdy and Debbie Jennex. Mixed Mattatall has found the most success in her curling career representing Nova Scotia at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. She won the event twice, in 1995 and 1998, both times throwing third stones for skip Steve Ogden. She also placed second at the 1985 Canadian Mixed, throwing third for Dave Jones. She last played in the mixed at the 2014 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship playing third for Rob Harris, finishing in sixth place. Women's Mattatall won her first Nova Scotia Tournament of Hearts in 1989, playing third for Colleen Jones.
