Brighton Football Club (South Australia)
The Brighton Districts and Old Scholars Football Club Inc., nicknamed the ''Bombers'', is an Australian rules football club based in the southern suburbs of Adelaide which was formed in 1991 as a merger between the former Brighton Football Club and Brighton High Old Scholars Football Club. Also known as the Brighton Bombers, BDOS competed in the South Australian Amateur Football League (SAAFL). In 1994, BDOS joined the Southern Football League in the junior grades, and were followed by the senior teams from the SAAFL in 1997. In 2017, BDOS shifted to the Adelaide Footy League. Adelaide Footy League
The Adelaide Footy League, formerly known as the South Australian Amateur Football League (SAAFL), is a semi-professional Australian rules football competition based in Adelaide, South Australia. Comprising sixty-seven member clubs playing over one hundred and ten matches per week, the SAAFL is one of Australia's largest Australian rules football associations. The league currently provides competition across eight Senior divisions with Reserves grades, accompanied by a separate C grade competition, all from Divisions 1 to 7. Western Bulldogs Football Club
The Western Bulldogs are a professional Australian rules football team that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition. Founded in 1877 as the Footscray Football Club, and based in West Footscray in the old City of Footscray west of Melbourne, the club won nine premierships in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) before gaining admission to the Victorian Football League (which became the AFL in 1990) in 1925. The Southern League is a football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from East Anglia, the South and Midlands of England, and South Wales. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The structure of the Southern League has changed several times since its formation in 1894, and currently there are 84 clubs which are divided into four divisions. Happy Valley Football Club
The Happy Valley Football Club is an Australian rules football club that competes in the Southern Football League. History The club first formed in 1952 playing in the former Hills Central Football League. In 1964, Happy Valley transferred to the Glenelg-South-West District Football Association and adopted the colours Black and Gold to avoid a clash with the Glandore club (having previously worn Blue and Gold). In 1980, Happy Valley joined the Southern Football League Division 2 competition and in 1984 were promoted to Division 1. Reynella Football Club
The Reynella Football Club is an Australian rules football club first formed on 18 April 1896. Reynella first joined an organised competition in 1914, the Mid-Southern Football Association, playing in that competition until the end of 1918. In 1919, Reynella joined the Southern Football Association for the first time, but only lasted one season before returning to the Mid-Southern Association. In 1928, Reynella merged with the Morphett Vale Football Club and joined the Southern Football Association. This combination split at the end of the 1929 season and Reynella returned to the Mid-Southern Association. Reynella remained in the Mid-Southern Association, later the Glenelg District Football Association, until the end of the 1947 season. The Noarlunga Football Club is an Australian rules football club that plays in the Southern Football League. History There are some records of a Noarlunga Football Club being first formed in the 1890s. The first record of Noarlunga participating in an organised competition was with the establishment of the Alexandra Football Association in 1913, with Noarlunga finishing runners-up to Clarendon that season. Marion Football Club
The Marion Football Club is an Australian rules football club first formed in 1891 as the Sturt Football Club (no relation to the SANFL’s Sturt Football Club). In 1912, Sturt joined the Sturt Football Association, playing against the Blackwood, Mitcham, Brighton, Sturt Ramblers and Glenelg Imperials clubs. In 1920, Sturt joined the Mid-Southern Football Association along with Blackwood and Brighton, winning the Premiership that season. The Mid-Southern Football Association became the Glenelg District Football Association in 1931, with Sturt once again winning the first premiership. The Southern Metropolitan Football League (SMFL) was an Australian rules football competition based in the southern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia until it folded at the end of the 1986 season. It first formed in 1912 as the Sturt Football Association, and during its history was also known as the Mid-Southern Football Association (1920-1930), Glenelg District Football Association (1931–1949), Glenelg-South-West District Football Association (1950–1966) and Glenelg-South Adelaide Football Association (1967–1983), before finally being named Southern Metropolitan Football League (1984–1986).
