The Bridgewater Curling Club is a curling club and facility in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. History The club was founded in 1907, and female curlers were permitted to join in 1910. Provincial champions Men's Teams from the Bridgewater Curling Club have won the Nova Scotia Men's Championship nine times, earning the right to represent Nova Scotia at the Brier, Canada's national men's championship. Mixed Teams from the Bridgewater Curling Club have won the provincial mixed championship three times, earning the right to represent Nova Scotia at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. Junior men's Teams from the Bridgewater Curling Club have won the provincial men's junior championships 10 times, earning the right to represent Nova Scotia at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Bridgewater, Nova Scotia
Bridgewater is a town in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, Canada, at the navigable limit of the LaHave River. With a 2021 population of 8,790, Bridgewater is the largest town in the South Shore region. 1986 Canadian Junior Men's Curling Championship
The 1986 Pepsi Canadian Junior Men's Curling Championship was held February 16-22 at the Red Deer Curling Club in Red Deer, Alberta. Team Manitoba, skipped by future Manitoba Leader of the Opposition Hugh McFadyen and his teammates Jon Mead, Norman Gould, John Lange defeated Saskatchewan in the final, to claim the province's fourth provincial men's junior title. The team would go on to win a silver medal for Canada at the 1987 World Junior Curling Championships. It would be the last year where the men's and women's junior tournaments would be held at separate times. Canadian Junior Curling Championships
The Canadian Junior Curling Championships is an annual curling tournament held to determine the best junior-level curling team in Canada. Junior level curlers must be under the age of 21 as of June 30 in the year prior to the tournament. The event began in 1950 as the National Schoolboys Championship, and all members of a team had to attend the same high school. Efforts to establish the event were led by Ken Watson, Maurice Smith and others. From 1950 to 1957, teams played for the Victor Sifton Trophy. Sifton's newspaper chain was the sponsor of the event during this time. From 1958 to 1975 the event was sponsored by Pepsi and was known as the Pepsi Schoolboys, becoming the Pepsi Juniors in 1976. At that time, the age limit of the event was adjusted to match the eligibility for the World Junior Curling Championships which began in 1975. The 2006 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship was held November 19–26, ''2005'' at the Whitehorse Curling Club (Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre) in Whitehorse, Yukon. Canadian Mixed Curling Championship
The Canadian Mixed Curling Championship is the national curling championship for mixed curling in Canada. The winners of the tournament will represent Canada at the World Mixed Curling Championship. In mixed curling, the positions on a team must alternate between men and women. If a man throws last rocks, which is usually the case, the women must throw lead rocks and third rocks, while the other male member of the team throws second rocks. In 2004, Shannon Kleibrink became the only woman to skip a team and win a Canadian Mixed championship. History The Canadian Mixed Curling Championship was established in 1964, with Canadian Breweries as the event's sponsor and Frank Sargent (sports executive), Frank Sargent as its committee chairman. Jeff Hopkins (curler)
Jeffrey Hopkins (born 14 April 1964) is a former Welsh international football defender and current Melbourne Victory Women head coach, who most notably played club football for Fulham and Reading in the Football League. Club career Hopkins started his career as a trainee with Fulham, going on to make over 200 first team appearances for the club. This was followed by a four-year spell at Crystal Palace, including a loan to Plymouth Argyle in 1991–92. He spent a few months at Bristol Rovers in 1992, before spending the remaining five years of his Football League career with Reading. While at Reading, he was part of the team that narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League in the 1994–95 season, losing 4–3 after extra time in the playoff final against Bolton Wanderers.
