Bridgette Tlhomelang
Keitumetse Bridgette Tlhomelang (born 28 December 1975) is a South African politician who serves as an African National Congress Member of Parliament from the North West. Parliamentary career Tlhomelang is a member of the African National Congress. She was ranked 8th on the ANC's list of parliamentary candidates from the North West for the May 8, 2019 parliamentary election. The ANC won 63.69% of the total vote on the national ballot in the province, entitling it to nine out of the thirteen regional seats in the National Assembly, the lower house of parliament. Tlhomelang was elected to the National Assembly and was sworn in during the first sitting of the National Assembly after the election on 22 May 2019. Tlhomelang was appointed to serve on the Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development for the 6th Parliament (2019–2024) on 27 June 2019. North West ( tn, Bokone Bophirima) is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa, the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa, the national legislature of South Africa. The constituency was established in 1994 when the National Assembly was established by the Interim Constitution following the end of Apartheid. It is conterminous with the province of North West. The constituency currently elects 13 of the 400 members of the National Assembly using the closed party-list proportional representation electoral system. National Assembly Of South Africa
The National Assembly is the directly elected house of the Parliament of South Africa, located in Cape Town, Western Cape. It consists of four hundred members who are elected every five years using a party-list proportional representation system where half of the members are elected proportionally from nine provincial lists and the remaining half from national lists so as to restore proportionality. The National Assembly is presided over by a Speaker, assisted by a Deputy Speaker. 2019 South African General Election
General elections were held in South Africa on 8 May 2019 to elect a new President, National Assembly and provincial legislatures in each province. These were the sixth elections held since the end of apartheid in 1994 and determined who would become the next President of South Africa.
