Brianna Ste-Marie (born 30 August 1996) is a Canadian submission grappler, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) black belt athlete. An IBJJF World No-Gi, Pan American (Gi and No-GI), European and American national jiu-jitsu champion in coloured belts, as well as a Combat Jiu-Jitsu and Medusa champion; Ste-Marie is a 2022 World No-GI champion, a 2023 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship medallist and the 2022 ADCC Submission Grappling under silver medallist. Biography Brianna Ste-Marie was born on 30 August 1996, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The European Championship or European Open (officially called the European IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship) is the most prestigious and largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in Europe by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF). The tournament is an Open (sport), open championship accepting competitors from all countries. The IBJJF gives tournaments weighting which helps calculate the number of points an athlete can win via their participation. For the 2017/2018 IBJJF calendar the European Championship has a weighting of 4 alongside the Pan-American Championship (jiu-jitsu) making it second in importance only to the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship which has a weighting of 7. The Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Pan American Championship (commonly known as Pan Ams or Pans), is the largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in North America. The event is held annually by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. History Representing one of the first steps toward internationalisation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the Pan-American Championship has been held annually since 1995. Luiza Monteiro (born 23 November 1988) is a Brazilian Grappling, submission grappler and 2nd degree black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor. She has won gold medals in the Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Gi at all four major events and in Submission wrestling, no-gi at three of the four major events. The 2022 ADCC Submission Fighting World Championship was a two-day no-gi submission grappling event that took place on 17-18 September 2022 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. History The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in September 2021 but was postponed to 2022 due to the international travel restrictions and the global lockdowns caused by the Covid 19 pandemic.
