Brian Mitchell (boxer)
Brian Mitchell (born 30 August 1961 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a South Aftican former professional boxer who competed from 1981 to 1985. He held the WBA super-featherweight title from 1986 to 1991, ''The Ring super-featherweight title from 1986 to 1988, and the IBF super-featherweight title from 1991 to 1992. Beginnings Mitchell began his career in late 1981, winning his first three fights on points over four rounds in less than two months. By the end of November he had won five times, defeating Simon Zondo and then Mose Mthiyane on fourth-round knockouts. He began 1982 with a two-round KO of Phanuel Mosoane, but then suffered a setback, losing over 10 rounds to Jacob Morake. It would prove to be the only loss of his career, and left Mitchell's record at six wins and one defeat. Mike Evgen, alias ''The Rice Street Rocker'', is a retired welterweight professional boxer from Minnesota. Personal life Mike Evgen, as his nickname implies, is from the Rice Street neighborhood in Saint Paul, Minnesota. At 5'6" tall, Evgen was unusually short for a welterweight fighter. Professional career Evgen made his professional debut in January 1989 with a first round knockout of Rick Caldwell. He won his first 16 professional fights, losing for the first time to Terry Ford in June 1991. The Ellis Park Arena (formerly Standard Bank Arena and often acknowledged as Ellis Park Indoor Arena) is an indoor sporting arena located in Johannesburg, South Africa. The capacity of the arena is 5,000 people. A large number of sports events and concerts have occurred in this arena.
