Brian McCarthy Memorial Moosehead Award
The Brian McCarthy Memorial Moosehead Award is a grant issued to Australian comedians wishing to premiere new works as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. It is named after Brian McCarthy, a young comedian and comedy producer killed in a car accident in 1987. Michael John Ward (born September 14, 1973) is a Canadian comedian. He performs comedy in both French and English. David Quirk (born 15 February 1981) is an actor and stand-up comedian based in Melbourne, Australia. Career Quirk has been performing stand-up comedy since 2002. The Axis Of Awesome
The Axis of Awesome was an Australian comedy music act with members Jordan Raskopoulos, Lee Naimo and Benny Davis, that performed from 2006 to 2018. The trio covered a wide variety of performance styles, and perform a combination of original material and pop parodies. History The Axis of Awesome formed in 2006, their name being a play on the phrase "axis of evil" used by United States President George W. Bush. The trio were heavily involved in improv theatre at the University of Sydney and decided to try something different. The band played at a few stand-up comedy nights and improv events in Sydney and performed a fortnightly segment on FBi Radio, but got their first big break when they released a number of rap parodies lampooning the 2007 Australian Federal Election. Justin Hamilton (a.k.a. "Hammo") is an Australian comedian, writer and radio host. Early life Hamilton grew up in Adelaide, South Australia. Career He is a standup performer who started his comedy career in Adelaide in 1994 as part of a duo called The Bunta Boys with school mate Damien. They wrote and performed songs such as "Red Necked Boy" and "I Wanna Be Hip". The latter an inspired tribute to Rick Astley. John Knowles (; September 16, 1926November 29, 2001) was an American novelist best known for ''A Separate Peace'' (1959). Biography Knowles was born on September 17, 1926, in Fairmont, West Virginia, the son of James M.
