Brian Kennedy (hurler)
Brian Kennedy (born 30 January 1992) is an Irish hurler who plays as a left corner-back for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Freshford, County Kilkenny, Kennedy first played competitive hurling whilst at school at Kilkenny CBS. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team before later joining the under-21 side. Kennedy made his senior debut during the 2014 National Hurling League and quickly became a regular member of the team. Since then he has won one National Hurling League medal, one Leinster Senior Hurling Championship and one All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship medal as a non-playing substitute. At club level Kennedy is a one-time All-Ireland medallist in the intermediate grade with St Lachtain's. In addition to this he has also won one Leinster medal and one championship medal. Freshford () is a village and former town in the Barony (Ireland), barony of Cranagh (barony), Crannagh, County Kilkenny, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. History The village is the site of a monastery dating to the early 7th century. The Irish name ''achadh úr'' has historically been anglicised as ''Aghour'' (1318) ''Achure'' (1480) ''Achour'' (1480) ''Awchoor'' (1905), and similar. Kilkenny Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Kilkenny Intermediate Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as Michael Lyng Motors Intermediate Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Kilkenny IHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Kilkenny County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by intermediate clubs in the county of Kilkenny in Ireland. It is the second tier overall in the entire Kilkenny hurling championship system. The Kilkenny Intermediate Championship was introduced in 1929 as a competition that would bridge the gap between the senior grade and the junior grade. The championship was suspended for over 30 years until the 1970s when it was reinstated. The 2010 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 80th staging of the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. The championship began on 10 April and ended on 5 September 2010. Galway entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Kilkenny in the All-Ireland semi-final. On 5 September 2010, Kilkenny won the championship after a 2-10 to 0-14 defeat of Clare in the All-Ireland final at Croke Park.
