Brian Chippendale
Brian Chippendale (born July 22, 1973) is an American musician and artist, known as the drummer and vocalist for the experimental noise rock band Lightning Bolt and for his graphic art. Chippendale is based in Providence, Rhode Island. Brian plays an assortment of drums usually decorated with prints he makes himself. He uses two ride cymbals as crash rides and a Ludwig snare drum. Early life and education Chippendale was born July 22, 1973 in Newburgh, New York and was raised in a suburb near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Chippendale is also an artist and attended printmaking classes at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in the late 1990s through 2000, but did not graduate. Music As a vocalist for Lightning Bolt and Mindflayer, Chippendale eschews the usual microphone stand and conventional microphone, instead using a contact microphone. Newburgh is a city in the U.S. state of New York, within Orange County. With a population of 28,856 as of the 2020 census, it is a principal city of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown metropolitan area. The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD , pronounced "Riz-D") is a private art and design school in Providence, Rhode Island. The school was founded as a coeducational institution in 1877 by Helen Adelia Rowe Metcalf, who sought to increase the accessibility of design education to women. Ride The Skies
''Ride the Skies'' is the second studio album by noise rock band Lightning Bolt. The second track, "Saint Jacques," is named after bassist Dan St. Jacques, a friend of the band and member of the bands Olneyville Sound System, Vincebus Eruptum (former), and Landed, the latter of which both Brian Gibson and Brian Chippendale are former members. ''Lightning Bolt'' is the debut album by noise rock band Lightning Bolt. Originally, five of the tracks on the album were recorded in the studio, however, with the exception of one track, the band discarded these and instead put low fidelity live versions of the songs on the record. A 50-minute "companion cassette" entitled ''Zone'' was available for three dollars via direct mail order when the record was originally released. This material appears in the form of two bonus tracks included on the CD release. The original vinyl issue was limited to 750 copies and had the artwork that is represented on this page. The more common CD reissue contained slightly different artwork. Jungil Hong
Jungil Hong, also known as Jung-li Hong (born 1976), is a Korean-American artist based in Providence, Rhode Island. She is best known for her psychedelic, cartoon-inspired silkscreen poster art and paintings. More recently she has expanded into textiles. Early life and education Hong moved to Providence, Rhode Island in 1995 in order to attend Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and that same year taking up residency Fort Thunder. ''Mothers News'' was a free monthly newspaper published in Providence, RI by Rhododendron Festival. It existed between 2010 and 2015. Background ''Mothers News'' had a circulation of 5,000 copies per month, including national and international subscribers who receive issues by mail. The first issue was published in May 2010. Initially in 2 page broadsheet format, it expanded in 2011 to 8 pages (or occasionally 12). The paper was owned and published by Rhododendron Festival, Inc. and edited by Jacob Khepler (née Berendes). It was distributed locally in Providence and nationally at independent bookstores, boutiques, and venues. ''Mothers News'' won the 2011 New England Art Award, in the 'book' category. The College Hill Independent covered the publication of the 30th issue of ''Mothers News'' in November, 2012, interviewing editor Jacob Khepler. Brooklyn Bridge Park is an park on the Brooklyn side of the East River in New York City. Designed by landscape architecture firm Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, the park is located on a plot of land from Atlantic Avenue in the south, under the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and past the Brooklyn Bridge, to Jay Street north of the Manhattan Bridge. From north to south, the park includes the preexisting Empire–Fulton Ferry and Main Street Parks; the historic Fulton Ferry Landing; and Piers 1–6, which contain various playgrounds and residential developments. The park also includes Empire Stores and the Tobacco Warehouse, two 19th-century structures, and is a part of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway, a series of parks and bike paths around Brooklyn.
