Brett Baudinet
Brett Baudinet (born 1 November 1981) is a Cook Islands businessman and tennis player. He has represented the Cook Islands at the Pacific Mini Games, and Oceania at the Davis Cup. Personal life Baudinet grew up in the Cook Islands, and moved to New Zealand at the age of 14 to attend King's College, Auckland. After time in the USA, he returned to Rarotonga in 2012. He runs a tourism business. Tennis career Baudinet first represented the Cook Islands at tennis at the age of eight in the Aotearoa Māori Tennis Championships in New Zealand. He played in his first Davis Cup match in February 2000. He later moved to the USA to study, where he played for the University of Michigan. In September 2017 he was awarded the Davis Cup Commitment Award for outstanding services to tennis for playing 50 Davis Cup matches. Pacific Mini Games
The Pacific Mini Games is a continental multi-sport event contested by countries and territories located in Oceania. The event has been held every four years since the inaugural games in Honiara, Solomon Islands in 1981. It was known as the South Pacific Mini Games prior to 2009. It is called the 'Mini' games because it is a scaled-down version of the main Pacific Games and is similarly rotated on a four-year basis in the intervening years between the main Games. The Mini Games have been hosted by 9 different Pacific Island capitals around 4 countries and 5 territories. Only the Cook Islands and Vanuatu have hosted twice, with Palau set to host the event for the second time in 2025. Davis Cup
The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. It is described by the organisers as the "World Cup of Tennis", and the winners are referred to as the World Champion team. The competition began in 1900 as a challenge between Great Britain and the United States. By 2016, 135 nations entered teams into the competition. The most successful countries over the history of the tournament are the United States (winning 32 titles and finishing as runners-up 29 times) and Australia (winning 28 titles, including six with New Zealand as Australasia, and finishing as runners-up 19 times). King's College, Auckland
King's College (Latin: ''Collegium Regis''; mi, Kīngi Kāreti), often informally referred to simply as King's, is an independent secondary boarding and day school in New Zealand. It educates over 1000 pupils, aged 13 to 18 years. The Pacific Oceania Davis Cup team represents the island nations in Oceania, excluding Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia, in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Oceania Tennis Federation. Pacific Oceania on Sunday 19th September 2021 was promoted following the Davis Cup Tie in Amman, Jordan to compete in the 2022 Asia/Oceania Zone of Group II.
