Brendan Murphy (Carlow Footballer)
Brendan Murphy (born 26 March 1989) ( ga, Breandán Ó Murchú) is an Irish sportsman from Rathvilly, County Carlow. He is a member of the Carlow senior football team, and his local club Rathvilly. Underage with Carlow Murphy played minor football for Carlow and was star of the team that lost the Leinster minor football championship final in 2007. Carlow lost in Round 1 of the championship to Longford, but recovered in the playoffs, causing a massive shock in beating Meath and Wexford, before beating Westmeath and Louth to reach the final. For a while, it looked like Murphy might miss the final through suspension after receiving a straight red card in the semi-final against Louth. However, this was overturned on appeal, after video evidence showed that Murphy had been incorrectly disciplined by the referee, and he lined out against Laois in the final at Croke Park. Brendan Murphy (Meath Footballer)
Brendan Murphy (born 19 August 1975) is an Irish former footballer who played soccer for the Republic of Ireland U21 and B national teams and Gaelic football for the Meath county team. Career Soccer Murphy played as a goalkeeper with Bradford City and Wimbledon where he played for 5 seasons. Murphy did not play in a league match for Wimbledon, but he appeared in Intertoto Cup matches. In 1999 Murphy moved back to Ireland where he played for a season with Dundalk before returning to play his final 2-year stint in England with Kidderminster Harriers in 2000. Murphy won eight Republic of Ireland under-21 caps and one B cap. He was also called up to the senior team by manager Mick McCarthy for an away international friendly match against Wales in 1997, although he remained an unused substitute. Brendan Murphy (Cork Gaelic Footballer)
Timothy Brendan Murphy (1921 – 8 July 2005) was an Irish Gaelic football player and administrator who played for club side Bere Island, divisional side Beara and at inter-county level with the Cork senior football team. Career Murphy first played Gaelic football with Bere Island, winning several divisional championships before claiming a County Junior Championship title in 1943. He was a regular member of the Beara divisional team from 1942 until 1959, lining out in almost every position including goalkeeper. Murphy was drafted onto the Cork senior football team in 1945 and was an unused substitute when Cork claimed the All-Ireland title after a defeat of Cavan in the final. His older brother "Weesh" Murphy was full-back on the same team. In 1946 Murphy lined out with the Cork junior team before again being an unused substitute with the Cork senior team.
