Fredrika Bremer
Fredrika Bremer (17 August 1801 – 31 December 1865) was a Finnish-born Swedish writer and feminist reformer. Her ''Sketches of Everyday Life'' were wildly popular in Britain and the United States during the 1840s and 1850s and she is regarded as the Swedish Jane Austen, bringing the realist novel to prominence in Swedish literature. In her late 30s, she successfully petitioned King Charles XIV for emancipation from her brother's wardship; in her 50s, her novel '' Hertha'' prompted a social movement that granted all unmarried Swedish women legal majority at the age of 25 and established Högre Lärarinneseminariet, Sweden's first female tertiary school. It also inspired Sophie Adlersparre to begin publishing the ''Home Review'', Sweden's first women's magazine as well as the later magazine '' Hertha''. Otto Bremer
Otto Bremer (October 22, 1867 – February 18, 1951) was a German American banker and philanthropist. He founded Bremer Bank and the Otto Bremer Foundation, which grants funds for use in the communities where the banks operate. Immigration, banking and beer Bremer was born on October 22, 1867, in Seesen, Germany, son of a banker father. He immigrated to the United States, arriving in November 1886 with his brother Adolf. He worked as a stock clerk for a St. Paul, Minnesota wholesale hardware company before he took a position as a bookkeeper at the National German American Bank in 1887. During the next decades, he was promoted to higher positions, and became a major stockholder in the bank. Martin Bremer
Martin Bremer (born 19 March 1970) is a German former long-distance runner who competed in distances from 5000 metres to the marathon. He competed in the 1990s and represented Germany twice internationally, running at the 1992 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and taking a 5000 m bronze at the 1994 IAAF World Cup. Born in Dortmund, he was a member of LG Bayer Leverkusen until the end of 1994, at which point he was banned from the sport for two years after a positive doping test for excess testosterone. In his professional career he ran in several road running competitions. His greatest achievement on the roads was a win at the Frankfurt Marathon, which he did in 1996 in a time of 2:13:38 hours. |

Lucille Bremer (February 21, 1917 – April 16, 1996) was an American film actress and dancer. Biography Bremer was born in Amsterdam, New York, but soon moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she studied ballet. At age 12, she danced with the Philadelphia Opera Company. Pre-Hollywood career Once in New York, she danced in various specialty acts, most notably in the 1939 New York World's Fair "American Jubilee". She auditioned and began her career as a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, at age 16. She was voted as "most likely to succeed" by her Rockette peers. She was also known as "5th from the right" in the Rockettes line up. Bremer also auditioned as a dancer for various Broadway shows, along with fellow stars Vera-Ellen and June Allyson, appearing as a 'Pony Girl' in the Broadway musical ''Panama Hattie'' and also in Lady in the Dark. Kristen Kyrre Bremer (12 July 1925 – 16 May 2013) was a Norwegian theologian and bishop in the Church of Norway. Education and career Bremer was born in Tana, Norway in 1925. Bremer received his cand.theol. degree in 1953 in the Faculty of Theology at the University of Oslo. He was ordained as a priest in 1953. His began his ministry as a Military Chaplain for the brigade in northern Norway from 1953 to 1956. Karl Heinz Bremer
Karl Heinz Bremer (16 November 1911 – 2 May 1942) was a German historian who died during the Second World War. He had taught German at the Sorbonne and the Ecole Normale before the Second World War. He joined the Nazi Party (NSDAP) 1 May 1937. Following the fall of France, Bremer was the associate director of the German Institute in Paris, from its creation in the fall of 1940 until he was sent to the Russian front 27 February 1942. The German Institute was responsible for editing the French press, and for controlling newly published French books during the occupation. Bremer is known for the friendship he developed with the French collaborator and journalist Robert Brasillach. This friendship prospered because both men were eager to exchange knowledge of each other's country and culture. But Bremer got involved very much in the policy of the Nazis in Paris. Kåre Bremer (born 17 January 1948) is a Swedish botanist and academic. He has also been Vice-Chancellor of Stockholm University. Career Professor Bremer received his doctorate in Botany from Stockholm University in 1976, where he worked as lecturer and research assistant in the department from 1972–1975, and full-time from 1976. In 1979 he was appointed Docent. In 1980 he became Curator at the Museum of Natural History in Stockholm in the Department of Spermatophyte Botany. From 1985–1986 he was also a Research Associate and BA Krukoff Curator of African Botany at the Missouri Botanical Garden. Following this Bremer was installed as Professor of Systematic Botany at Uppsala University in 1989, where he also became head of the department from 1992 to 1999, and Dean of Biology from 1993–1999. John Bremer
John Bremer (1927–2015) was an educator and Socratic philosopher. In 2008 he retired as a senior scholar teaching at Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he was Professor of Humanities and Director of the college's Humanities and Freedom Institute. Professor Bremer founded Cambridge College in 1971 when it was then known as the "Institute of Open Education" at Newton College of the Sacred Heart. After retirement he lived full-time in Vermont, where he continued his research and writing. He died on November 30, 2015.
