Bregenzerwald Railway
The Bregenz Forest Railway (german: Bregenzerwaldbahn, known colloquially as the ''Wälderbahn'' or ''Wälderbähnle''), is an Austrian narrow gauge railway with a track gauge of , the so-called Bosnian gauge. It runs through the state of Vorarlberg and from 1902 to 1983 linked Bregenz on Lake Constance with Bezau in the Bregenz Forest on a 35.33 kilometre long railway line. Today only a 5.01 kilometre long section is still worked as a heritage railway. The remaining line has been closed and largely lifted. Heritage railway In 1985 the Bregenz Forest Railway Society (''Verein Bregenzerwaldbahn-Museumsbahn'') was founded in order to at least preserve sections of the line and to operate it as a heritage railway. Bezau
Bezau is a town in the Bregenz Forest region, in the western Austrian state of Vorarlberg. It is part of the district of Bregenz. Bezau is a popular tourist destination around the year, due to its vicinity to ski resorts and hiking trails. Its picturesque church was built in 1906 and has as its patron saint St. Jodok. Another attraction is the museum of local history (Heimatmuseum), which is housed in a traditional Bregenz Forest wooden home. Geography Bezau has a surface area of 34.42 km² and is one of the largest municipalities in the central Bregenz Forest. Population History Bezau was first documented as "Baezenowe" in 1249. After the construction of its own church in 1497, Bezau became an autonomous parish. In 1656, a Capuchin monastery was founded there. Jagst Valley Railway
The Jagst Valley Railway (german: Jagsttalbahn) is a 39.1-kilometre-long, single tracked narrow gauge railway in the north of the German state of Baden-Württemberg that was closed between 1988 and 2021. It has a railway gauge of 750 millimetres. The Stubaitalbahn (Stubai Valley Railway) is an long narrow gauge interurban tram from Innsbruck to Fulpmes in Tyrol, Austria. In the city of Innsbruck, it uses the local tramway tracks. Bregenz Forest
The Bregenz Forest (german: Bregenzerwald, ) is one of the main regions in the state of Vorarlberg (Austria). It overlaps, but is not coterminous with, the Bregenz Forest Mountains, which belong to a range of the Northern Limestone Alps, specifically the northern flysch zone. It is the drainage basin of the Bregenzer Ach river. Geography The regional inhabitants often divide the Bregenz Forest into two main areas, the Vorderwald ('anterior forest') and Hinterwald ('hinterforest'). Bosnian-gauge railways are railways with track gauge of . These were found extensively in the former Austro-Hungarian Empire as a standardised form of narrow gauge.
