Brasília Futebol Clube, commonly referred to as Brasília, is a Brazilian professional club based in Brasília, Distrito Federal founded on 2 June 1975. It competes in the Campeonato Brasiliense, the top flight of the Distrito Federal state football league. History They were founded on June 2, 1975 as Brasília Esporte Clube by the entrepreneurs José da Silva Neto and Vicente de Paula Rodrigues. The club won the Campeonato Brasiliense eight times, the last time being in 1987. Brasília were Torneio Centro-Oeste's runner-up in 1984, after being defeated by Guará in the final. The club's football department was bought in 1999 by Brasília Promoções e Participações Desportivas S/A, which is a company owned by eight members (in Portuguese ''sócios'') of the club, and the club was renamed to Brasília Futebol Clube, adopting a new logo, and changing its colors from red to yellow and blue. Arena BRB Mané Garrincha, formerly Estádio Nacional de Brasília Mané Garrincha, also known as ''Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha'', ''Estádio Nacional de Brasília'', or simply ''Mané Garrincha'', is a football stadium and multipurpose arena, located in Brasília, in the Distrito Federal. The 2015 Copa Sudamericana () was the 14th edition of the Copa Sudamericana, South America's secondary club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. Colombian team Santa Fe qualified to play in the 2016 Copa Libertadores, the 2016 Recopa Sudamericana, and the 2016 Suruga Bank Championship, after winning the final against Argentinian team Huracán 3–1 on penalties (0–0 on aggregate after extra time). 2014 Copa Verde
The 2014 Copa Verde was the first edition of a football competition held in the Brazil. Featuring 16 clubs, with Pará has three vacancies; Amazonas, Distrito Federal and Mato Grosso with two each and Acre, Amapá, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins. The champion earned the spot in the 2015 Copa Sudamericana. Brasília won the final over Paysandu. However, on July 28, 2014, the title was awarded to Paysandu, due to irregularities of the squad of Brasília. Brasília appealed the decision, and obtained a suspension which reversed this decision temporarily. A final decision by the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) declared Brasília as the champion. Copa Verde
The Copa Verde () is an annual regional knockout football competition in Brazil that started in 2014, and played by 24 teams from the North and Central-West regions, plus Espírito Santo (Espírito Santo state was included because they competed in the old Copa Centro Oeste). Initially, the champion of the tournament gained a place in the next year's Copa Sudamericana. With the changes implemented by CONMEBOL in 2016 causes a competition no longer qualify in Copa Sudamericana from edition. The champion will now have a spot in the third round of the Copa do Brasil of the following year.
