Guy Brasfield Park
Guy Brasfield Park (June 10, 1872 – October 1, 1946) was an American politician from the U.S. state of Missouri. Park was born in Platte City, Missouri to Thomas Woodson and Margaret Baxter Park. He studied at Gaylord Institute in Platte City and graduated from law school at the University of Missouri in 1896. Park practiced law in Platte City and served as Platte City's attorney and Platte County prosecuting attorney. He married Eleanora Gabbert in 1909. Together they had a daughter, Henrietta. In 1922, Park was elected as a judge for Missouri's fifth judicial circuit court and the Missouri State Constitutional Convention. In 1928, he was re-elected as circuit court judge, but resigned in 1932 to pursue a gubernatorial nomination. Park was selected by the Missouri Democratic Party as a candidate for Governor of Missouri after candidate Francis Wilson died in October 1932. James Brasfield (born January 19, 1952 in Savannah, Georgia) is an American poet and translator. Life He graduated from Armstrong State College, and Columbia University, with an MFA. His work has appeared in ''AGNI'', ''Chicago Review'', ''Colorado Review'', ''Crazyhorse'', ''The Iowa Review'', ''New Orleans Review'', ''Poetry Wales'', ''The Seattle Review'', and ''The Southern Review''. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Ukraine from 1993 through 1994; he later returned to the Ukraine to teach at Yuri Fedkovych State University in 1999. Oleh Lysheha
Oleh Lysheha ( uk, Олег Лишега; 30 October 1949 – 17 December 2014) was a Ukrainian poet, playwright, translator and intellectual. Lysheha entered Lviv University in 1968, where during his last year, he was expelled for his participation in an "unofficial" literary circle, Lviv Bohema. As punishment, Lysheha was drafted into the Soviet army and internally exiled. During the period 1972-1988, he was banned from official publication, but in 1989 his first book ''Great Bridge'' (''Velykyi Mist'') was published. For "The Selected Poems of Oleh Lysheha," Lysheha and his co-translator James Brasfield from Penn State University, received the 2000 PEN Award for Poetry in Translation published by the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute. Lysheha is the first Ukrainian poet to receive the PEN award. Rod Brasfield
Rodney Leon Brasfield (August 22, 1910 – September 12, 1958) was an American comedian who was prominently featured on the Grand Ole Opry from 1947 until his death in 1958. In 1987, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Life and career Brasfield was born in Smithville, Mississippi, United States. He began his career in the late 1920s with Bisbee's Dramatic Shows, a touring tent repertory troupe, serving as a straight man for his older brother, actor and comedian Boob Brasfield. In 1931, he married Eleanor Humphrey, a Hohenwald, Tennessee school teacher. Brasfield was recruited by George D. Hay for the Grand Ole Opry in 1944. With his trademark baggy suit, battered hat and rubbery face, he could make audiences laugh before he spoke a word. Charles Darin Brassfield (born September 16, 1963) is a former American racing driver from Los Gatos, California. He attempted to make his CART Championship Car debut in 1985 at the season ender in Miami driving for Wysard Racing. However, he failed to qualify. He returned to sports car racing to gain more experience. He returned to CART for two races at the end of the 1988 season and made his first start at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course but was knocked out by engine failure after 30 laps. He also drove at Laguna Seca Raceway a month later but suffered a broken gearbox 31 laps in. He subsequently returned to sports cars and was a multiple race winner in the IMSA GT Championship.
