Brant County Council
The Brant County Council is the governing body of the County of Brant government in Brant, Ontario, Canada. Members represent wards throughout the county, and are known as councillors. The council consists of a mayor and ten councillors, two representing each of five wards. The 2022 municipal elections in Ontario were held on October 24, 2022. Voters in the province of Ontario elected mayors, councillors, school board trustees and all other elected officials in all of the province's municipalities. Paris, Ontario
Paris (2021 population, 14,956) is a community located in the County of Brant, Ontario, Canada. It lies just northwest from the city of Brantford at the spot where the Nith River empties into the Grand River. Paris was voted "the Prettiest Little Town in Canada" by ''Harrowsmith'' Magazine. The town was established in 1850. In 1999, its town government was amalgamated into that of the County of Brant, ending 149 years as a separate incorporated municipality, with Paris as the largest population centre in the county. History Paris was named for the nearby deposits of gypsum, used to make plaster of Paris. This material was discovered in 1793 while the area was being surveyed for the British Home Department. By late 1794 a road had been built from what is now Dundas, Ontario, to the east bank of the Grand River in what became Paris, called The Governor's Road (now Dundas St. in Paris). The County of Brant (2021 population 39,474) is a single-tier municipality in the Canadian province of Ontario. Although it retains the word "county" in its name, the municipality is a single-tier municipal government and has no upper tier. The County of Brant has service offices in Burford, Paris, Oakland, Onondaga and St. George. The largest population centre (2021 population 14,956) is Paris. The County of Brant is a predominantly rural municipality in Southern Ontario. Ronald Eddy
Ronald E. F. Eddy (born ) is a politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1992 to 1995. He represented the riding of Brant—Haldimand, and the mayor of the County of Brant from 1999 to 2018. Background Eddy was born in Toronto, Ontario and raised on a farm near Brantford. He worked as a farmer and municipal administrator. He was a clerk-administrator in Wentworth County, Ontario from 1955 to 1973, and for Middlesex County from 1974 to 1992. He was reeve of South Dumfries Township from 1978 to 1991, and was a councillor in Brant County. On one occasion, he served as president of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario. Will Bouma
Willem Bouma (born July 27, 1972) is a Dutch-Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 2018 provincial election. He represents the riding of Brantford—Brant as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. Before becoming an MPP, Bouma practised optometry and was a member of the Brant County Council. Early life and optometry career Born in the village of Rinsumageast in The Netherlands, Bouma's family moved to Ontario when he was four years old. His parents operated a dairy farm near Forest, Ontario. Bouma attended the University of Waterloo, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1995. He then studied at the Michigan College of Optometry, graduating in 1999.
