Brandon Nimmo
Brandon Tate Nimmo (born March 27, 1993) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was drafted by the Mets in the first round of the 2011 MLB draft, and made his MLB debut with them in 2016. Early life and education Nimmo was born to Ron, a certified public accountant from La Junta, Colorado, and Patti Nimmo in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He has a brother, Bryce (who had a successful college baseball career at the University of Nebraska), and a sister, Kristen. He wanted to be a bull rider as a child. He grew up a Colorado Rockies fan. Nimmo attended Cheyenne East High School in Cheyenne. As Wyoming is one of only three states that do not offer high school baseball, Nimmo played American Legion Baseball. 2018 New York Mets Season
The 2018 New York Mets season was the franchise's 57th season and the team's 10th season at Citi Field. They attempted to return to the postseason after an injury-plagued under-performance in 2017. This was their first season with Mickey Callaway as manager, succeeding Terry Collins. The Mets got off to a franchise record 11-1 start and ended the month of April with a 17-9 record, in 1st place in the National League East. Major League Baseball Draft
The first-year player draft is the primary mechanism of Major League Baseball (MLB) for assigning amateur baseball players from high schools, colleges, and other amateur baseball clubs to its teams. The draft order is determined based on a lottery where the teams who did not make the postseason in the past year participate in a state-lottery style process to determine the first six picks, starting in 2023. Nicholas Edward Burdi (born January 19, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Chicago Cubs organization. He played college baseball for the Louisville Cardinals of the University of Louisville. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Amateur career Burdi attended Downers Grove South High School in Downers Grove, Illinois, where he played for the school's baseball team as a pitcher and for the football team as a quarterback. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. A run batted in (RBI; plural RBIs ) is a statistic in baseball and softball that credits a batter for making a play that allows a run to be scored (except in certain situations such as when an error is made on the play). For example, if the batter bats a base hit which allows a teammate on a higher base to reach home and so score a run, then the batter gets credited with an RBI. Before the 1920 Major League Baseball season, runs batted in were not an official baseball statistic. In baseball, a run is scored when a player advances around first, second and third base and returns safely to home plate, touching the bases in that order, before three outs are recorded and all obligations to reach base safely on batted balls are met or assured. A player may score by hitting a home run or by any combination of plays that puts him safely "on base" (that is, on first, second, or third) as a runner and subsequently brings him home. Once a player has scored a run, they may not attempt to score another run until their next turn to bat. The object of the game is for a team to score more runs than its opponent. In baseball, a triple is the act of a batter safely reaching third base after hitting the ball, with neither the benefit of a fielder's misplay (see error) nor another runner being put out on a fielder's choice. A triple is sometimes called a "three-bagger" or "three-base hit". For statistical and scorekeeping purposes it is denoted by 3B. Triples have become somewhat rare in Major League Baseball, less common than both the double and the home run. Wrigley Field
Wrigley Field is a Major League Baseball (MLB) stadium on the North Side of Chicago, Illinois. It is the home of the Chicago Cubs, one of the city's two MLB franchises. Under Armour All-America Baseball Game
The Under Armour High School All-America Baseball Game is a high school baseball all-star game held annually to spotlight the United States' top high school players who are juniors or seniors. The game is played in late July or August, at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
