Brande Municipality
Until 1 January 2007, Brande municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Ringkøbing on the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 188 km2, and had a total population of 8,822 (2005). Its last mayor was Preben Christensen. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Brande. The municipality was created in 1970 as the result of a ("Municipality Reform") that Blåhøj and Brande parishes. Brande municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with Ikast and Nørre-Snede municipalities to form the new Ikast-Brande municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 768 km2 and a total population of 39,371 (2005). Danish Language
Danish (; , ) is a North Germanic language spoken by about six million people, principally in and around Denmark. Ringkjøbing County
Ringkjøbing Amt (English, ''Ringkjøbing County'') is a former county ( Danish: ''amt'') on the Jutland peninsula in western Denmark. It had the lowest population density of all the Danish counties. The county was abolished effective January 1, 2007, when it merged into Region Midtjylland (i.e. ''Region Central Jutland''). Parish
A parish is a territorial entity in many Christian denominations, constituting a division within a diocese. A parish is under the pastoral care and clerical jurisdiction of a priest, often termed a parish priest, who might be assisted by one or more curates, and who operates from a parish church. Denmark is divided into five regions, which contain 98 municipalities ( da, kommuner , sing.: ). The Capital Region has 29 municipalities, Southern Denmark 22, Central Denmark 19, Zealand 17 and North Denmark 11. Region Midtjylland
The Central Denmark Region ( da, Region Midtjylland), or more directly translated as the Central Jutland Region and sometimes simply Mid Jutland, is an administrative region of Denmark established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish municipal reform. The reform abolished the traditional counties (''amter'') and replaced them with five new administrative regions. At the same time, smaller municipalities were merged into larger units, cutting the total number of municipalities from 271 to 98. The reform diminished the power of the regional level dramatically in favour of the local level and the national government in Copenhagen. The Central Denmark Region comprises 19 municipalities.
