Brampton West (french: Brampton-Ouest) is a federal electoral district (Canada), electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2004. Its population was 170,422 in 2006- making it the most populous List of Canadian federal electoral districts, riding in Canada. The district includes the western part of the city of Brampton, Ontario, Brampton excluding the neighbourhood of Madoc (Brampton), Madoc. The electoral district was created in 2003: 72.8% of the population of the riding came from Brampton West—Mississauga, and 27.2% from Brampton Centre. As a result of the Canadian federal electoral redistribution, 2012, 2012 electoral redistribution, this riding lost just over half of its territory, mostly to Brampton South, with portions going to Brampton North. The Greater Toronto Area, commonly referred to as the GTA, includes the City of Toronto and the regional municipalities of Durham, Halton, Peel, and York. In total, the region contains 25 urban, suburban, and rural municipalities. Brampton South (french: Brampton-Sud) is a federal electoral district in the Peel Region of Ontario. Brampton South was created by the 2012 federal electoral boundaries redistribution and was legally defined in the 2013 representation order. Colleen Beaumier (born November 8, 1944) is a Canadian politician, who served in the House of Commons of Canada as a Liberal Member of Parliament from 1993 to 2008. Pre-politics Born in Chatham, Ontario, she studied at the University of Windsor, earning a bachelor of arts in psychology. She and her husband Pierre are the parents of three adult children: Stephanie, Michael and John; Stephanie ran for Brampton City Council in the 2006 election but was defeated.
