The Brampton Excelsiors are a Junior "B" box lacrosse team from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. The Excelsiors play in the OLA Junior B Lacrosse League and are eligible to compete for the Founders Cup National Championship. The Excelsiors are members of the same system of teams as the Brampton Excelsiors (MSL), Major Excelsiors and the Brampton Excelsiors Jr. A, Junior A Excelsiors. History Announced October 16, 2011, the Excelsiors were admitted as an expansion team into the OJBLL for the 2012 season. On April 22, 2012, the Jr. B Excelsiors played their first game, at home, with an 11–6 win over the Hamilton Bengals. History Perkins Bull, author of "From Rattlesnake Hunt To Hockey: The History of Sports in Canada and of the Sportsmen of Peel, 1798 to 1934", wrote that while it was Harry W. Dawson who brought "the first stick into Brampton," the "first regular play began in 1871" when George M. Lee, second Master in the Brampton High School, initiated the first organized game. The Mimico Mountaineers or Mimico Lacrosse Club is a Jr. A box lacrosse association in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Mountaineers operate junior-age and younger teams. Their home arena is Mimico Arena in the Mimico neighbourhood of Toronto. Beginning in 2015, their primary junior team will be a member of the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League. From 1993 until 2014, the Mountaineers were members of the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League. History The Mimico Lacrosse Club was established in 1890 as a field lacrosse organization. Welland Generals
The Welland Generals are Junior "B" box lacrosse team from Welland, Ontario, Canada. The Generals play in the OLA Junior B Lacrosse League. They were originally called the Welland Warlords. History Founded in 2001 by William (Billy) John House and Louis Savona, the Warlords had two strong seasons from the start. They even made the playoffs those first two seasons. From 2003 until 2006 have been positively dreadful though, capping it off in 2006 with a 0–20–0 record. In a lacrosse hotbed like the Golden Horseshoe it is unfortunate to see Welland suffer through recent seasons. In 2007 they debut new jerseys, sporting the warlord overtop of the background of the Welland river/canal. History Although not the same franchise, the Hamilton Bengals name does have some previous history. From 1976 until 1983, the original Hamilton Bengals existed in the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League. The Founders' Cup is the championship trophy of Canada's Junior "B" lacrosse leagues. The custodial duties of this trophy fall upon the Canadian Lacrosse Association. Box Lacrosse
Box lacrosse, also known as boxla, box, or indoor lacrosse, is an indoor version of lacrosse played mostly in North America. The game originated in Canada in the 1930s, where it is more popular than field lacrosse. Lacrosse is Canada's official national summer sport. Box lacrosse is played between two teams of five players and one goalie each, and is traditionally played on an ice hockey rink once the ice has been removed or covered. The playing area is called a box, in contrast to the open playing field of field lacrosse. OLA Junior B Lacrosse League
The Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League (OJBLL) is a box lacrosse league sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association in Canada. The league features twenty-five teams in Ontario, one in Quebec, and one in the Akwesasne (which straddles the two aforementioned provinces and New York) that annually play a 20-game schedule and four rounds of playoffs for the J. A. MacDonald Trophy. After the conclusion of the playoffs, a league champion represents the OJBLL at the Founders Cup National Junior B Championship.
