Brad Shapiro
Bradley Aaron Shapiro (born August 15, 1938) is an American musician, songwriter and record producer, whose credits have included work with Wilson Pickett, Millie Jackson, James Brown, and the J. Geils Band. In the late 1950s, he played bass guitar in a local band, the Redcoats, in Miami, Florida, whose singer was Steve Alaimo. After Alaimo launched a solo career, the band split up, but Shapiro remained involved in the music business and received his first songwriting credit in 1965 on "I Can't See Him Again" by the Twans, co-written with Henry Stone. In 1967, his song "Girl I Got News For You", co-written with Bobby Puccetti and co-produced by Shapiro and Alaimo, was recorded by Benny Latimore, and over the next few years his songs were recorded by a number of artists on T.K. labels in Miami, including Betty Wright and Clarence Reid. Johnny Adams
Laten John Adams Jr. (January 5, 1932 – September 14, 1998), was an American blues, jazz and gospel singer, known as "The Tan Canary" for the multi-octave range of his singing voice, his swooping vocal mannerisms and falsetto. His biggest hits were his versions of " Release Me" and "Reconsider Me" in the late 1960s. Life and career Adams was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, the oldest of 10 children. He became a professional musician on leaving school. He began his career singing gospel with the Soul Revivers and Bessie Griffin's Consolators, but crossed over to secular music in 1959. His upstairs neighbor, the songwriter Dorothy LaBostrie, supposedly persuaded him to start performing secular music after hearing him sing in the bathtub. Ichiban Records is an American independent record label, founded in 1985 by John Abbey and Nina Easton in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. History Wrap Records and Nastymix Records were some of its subsidiary labels. Urgent! Records and Mr. Henry Records of Houston were both distributed by Ichiban. Besides recording a string of hip hop groups in later years, Ichiban originally specialised in blues and has also released albums by musicians such as Buster Benton and Raful Neal. Ichiban filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1999. The catalog is now controlled by EMI, but nothing has been reissued since the label ceased operations. Facts of Life was an American soul/disco group formed by producer Millie Jackson, whose members were Jean Davis (sister of Tyrone Davis), Keith Williams, and Chuck Carter. They signed to independent label Kayvette Records, and a single, "Caught in the Middle", got airplay on Southern US radio stations but did not chart.Biography Allmusic.com Their second single was " Sometimes", a remake of country singer Bill Anderson's smash hit; Facts of Life's version hit #3 on the US Black Singles chart and #31 on the pop charts in 1977. As a result of the single's success, Kayvette rushed the album release, resulting in a bad pressing (the outer cover contained a number of spelling errors). Jackie Moore (1946 – November 8, 2019) was an American R&B singer. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, she is best known for her gold single 1970 song "Precious, Precious," which reached No. 30 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart on March 6, 1971. This disc sold over one million copies, and received a gold disc awarded by the R.I.A.A. in March 1971. Also noteworthy was her 1979 disco hit "This Time Baby," which hit No. 1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. The track reached No. 49 in the UK Singles Chart. The latter would later be sampled for the 2005 dance radio and club hit "Love on My Mind" by the Freemasons featuring Amanda Wilson. Joseph Henry Simon (October 11, 1913 – December 14, 2011) was an American comic book writer, artist, editor, and publisher. Simon created or co-created many important characters in the 1930s–1940s Golden Age of Comic Books and served as the first editor of Timely Comics, the company that would evolve into Marvel Comics. With his partner, artist Jack Kirby, he co-created Captain America, one of comics' most enduring superheroes, and the team worked extensively on such features at DC Comics as the 1940s Sandman (Wesley Dodds), Sandman and Sandy the Golden Boy, and co-created the Newsboy Legion, the Boy Commandos, and Manhunter (comics), Manhunter.
