Boyang Jin
Jin Boyang (; ; born 3 October 1997) is a Chinese figure skater. He is a two-time World bronze medalist (2016–2017), the 2018 Four Continents champion, a two-time Four Continents silver medalist (2016, 2019), the 2017 Asian Winter Games silver medalist, and a six-time (2014–2017, 2019, 2022) Chinese national champion. On the junior level, he is the 2015 World Junior silver medalist and the 2013 JGP Final champion. He is the first Chinese skater to medal in the men's singles at the World Figure Skating Championships. Jin is the first skater to ever land a quad Lutz- triple toe loop combination in competition, the first skater to ever have landed three different types of quads in a single competition, the first skater to have landed four quad jumps in a single program in international competition, and the first skater to have landed six quads in international competition. Figure Skating At The 2018 Winter Olympics
Figure skating at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games was held at the Gangneung Ice Arena in Gangneung, South Korea. The five events took place between 9 and 23 February 2018. Qualification A total of 148 quota spots were available to athletes to compete at the games. Each NOC could enter a maximum of 18 athletes, with a maximum of nine men and nine women. An additional six quota spots were made available for the team event. A further ten team trophy quotas (two in each discipline) were distributed to countries who qualified for the team event but not the discipline itself. 2016 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
The 2016 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships was an international figure skating competition in the 2015–16 season. It was held at the Taipei Arena in Taipei, Taiwan on February 16–21. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Qualification The competition was open to skaters from non-European member nations of the International Skating Union who reached the age of 15 before 1 July 2015. The corresponding competition for European skaters was the 2016 European Figure Skating Championships. National associations selected their entries based on their own criteria but the ISU mandated that their selections achieve a minimum technical elements score (TES) at an international event prior to the Four Continents. The 2018 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships were held in Taipei City, Taiwan on January 22–28, 2018. Medals were awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Qualification This competition is open to skaters from all non-European member nations of the International Skating Union. Skaters must have reached the age of 15 before July 1, 2017 to participate. The corresponding competition for European skaters is the 2018 European Figure Skating Championships. Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
The Four Continents Figure Skating Championships (4CC) is an annual figure skating competition. The International Skating Union established it in 1999 to provide skaters representing non-African and non-European countries with a similar competition to the much older European Figure Skating Championships. The event's name refers to North America and South America are both the Americas, Asia and Oceania (four of the continents represented in the Olympic rings, omitting Africa and Europe). Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dance. Historically, the 4CC has been dominated by just four countries – Canada, China, Japan, and the United States – which have won a combined 267 out of 276 possible medals. 2017 World Figure Skating Championships
The 2017 World Figure Skating Championships were held 29 March – 2 April 2017 in Helsinki, Finland. The host was named in June 2014. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dancing. The event also determined the number of entries for each country at the 2018 World Championships and the 2018 Winter Olympics. Venues Hartwall Arena's main arena, with an ice surface measuring 60 m x 30 m, was used for all competitions and several practice sessions. The rest of the practice sessions took place at Hartwall Arena's practice rink (58 m x 28 m) and Pirkkola ice rink (for pairs, 60 m x 30 m). Single Skating
Single skating is a discipline of figure skating in which male and female skaters compete individually. Men's singles and women's singles are governed by the International Skating Union (ISU). Figure skating is the oldest winter sport contested at the Olympics, with men's and women's single skating appearing as two of the four figure skating events at the London Games in 1908. Single skaters are required to perform two segments in all international competitions, the short program and the free skating program. Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport to be included in the Olympic Games, when contested at the 1908 Olympics in London.
