Boston, Missouri
Boston is an unincorporated community in southern Barton County, Missouri, United States. It is situated approximately halfway between Lamar and Jasper, and is about one mile northeast of the intersection of U.S. Route 71 and Route 126 on county roads. It once had a post office, but mail is now delivered from Lamar. The town was first established as Nodaway City. On February 13, 1851, a change of name to ‘Boston’ was granted at Jefferson City, as detailed in the Democratic Banner newspaper dated February 25, 1851. A post office called Boston was established in 1891, and remained in operation until 1971. Lamar, Missouri
Lamar is a city in and the county seat of Barton County, Missouri, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 4,266. It is known as the birthplace of Harry S. Truman, the 33rd president of the United States. The city government is consolidated with City Township. The city of Lamar is surrounded by, but is not part of, Lamar Township. Geography Lamar is located in central Barton County adjacent to a bend in the North Fork Spring River and lies on US Route 160 just east of US Route 71. Route 126 (Missouri)
Route 126 is a highway located entirely within Barton County in the U.S. state of Missouri. Its western terminus is at the Kansas state line, where K-126 ends. The route goes in a straight line for most of its length, and intersects Interstate 49 (I-49) and U.S. Route 71 (US 71). Its eastern terminus is at US 160 and Route 37 in Golden City. The route was designated in 1942, and formerly consisted of two supplemental routes. Route description Route 126 starts at the Kansas state line, where K-126 ends. The road travels east for around seven miles in a straight line, intersecting Route M and Route 43. Route 126 continues eastward, crossing through farmland and a few trees.
