Borup is a railway town in Zealand, Denmark. It lies about 40 km southwest of Copenhagen on the railroad between Roskilde and Ringsted. It is located in Køge Municipality in Region Zealand. Air-raid Shelter
Air raid shelters are structures for the protection of non-combatants as well as combatants against enemy attacks from the air. They are similar to bunkers in many regards, although they are not designed to defend against ground attack (but many have been used as defensive structures in such situations). During World War II, many types of structures were used as air raid shelters, such as cellars, Hochbunkers (in Germany), basements, and underpasses. Bombing raids during World War I led the UK to build 80 specially adapted London Underground stations as shelters. However, during World War II, the government initially ruled out using these as shelters. After Londoners flooded into underground stations during The Blitz, the government reversed its policy. Viborg FF
Viborg Fodsports Forening ("Viborg Footsport Association"), or Viborg F.F. and VFF for short, is a Danish professional football club based in Viborg. The club was founded in 1896 and waited more than a century before winning its only national trophy, the 2000 Danish Cup. History Viborg FF was founded in 1896, with several other sports apart from football - among other things were gymnastics, cricket, field hockey, boxing, athletics, skiing, weight-lifting, and wrestling. The first big sporting highlight of the club came in 1924, when Viborg FF won the championship in ''Mesterrækken'' (The Champion Division), which was the best regional division in Jutland. Jakob Glerup
Jakob Glerup Nielsen (born 20 April 1975) is a former Danish football midfielder, who played for Viborg FF his entire career. During his time in Viborg FF, he was known for his hard-working attitude, but hardly ever scoring goals. When eventually scoring a goal he always celebrated it with high levels of enthusiasm. He retired in the summer of 2010 at the age of 35. The last season of his career his club Viborg FF played in the Danish 1st Division (second best league). Frede Christoffersen
Frede Christoffersen (15 April 1919 – 29 May 1987) was a Danish painter and illustrator. Biography Born in Borup in central Zealand, Christoffersen spent a short period at the Copenhagen Arts and Crafts School before travelling to the Far East in 1940–41. The result was his ''20 Smaa sorte Tegninger'' published in 1941. From 1942 to 1943, he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, both at the graphic arts school and at the school of painting, under Aksel Jørgensen and Vilhelm Lundstrøm. In the early 1940s, he began to illustrate books including Nis Petersen's ''Digte'' (Poems) in 1942 and Ester Nagel's ''Mennesker'' (People, 1943). He also created coloured woodcuts and also produced book covers and posters but finally decided to concentrate on painting. Copenhagen–Fredericia/Taulov Line
The Copenhagen–Fredericia/Taulov Line is the Danish railway line between the capital, Copenhagen, and the Jutland peninsula by way of Funen. It is administered by Banedanmark and has a length of about . Being one of the main arteries of the Danish railway network, it has double track and is fully electrified. Skovbo Municipality
Skovbo is a former municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Roskilde County on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in east Denmark. It covered an area of 132 km², and had a total population of 14,873 (2005). Its last mayor was Ole Hansen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Borup. Neighboring municipalities were Køge to the east, Solrød, Ramsø, Lejre, and Hvalsø to the north, and Ringsted and Haslev to the west. A doomsday cult is a cult, that believes in apocalypticism and millenarianism, including both those that predict disaster and those that attempt to destroy the entire universe. Svenstrup (manor House)
Svenstrup is a manor house and estate located close to Borup, Køge Municipality, some 50 kilometres southwest of Copenhagen, Denmark. It has belonged to members of the Neergaard/Wedell-Neergaard family since 1751. History Church and Crown land Svenstrup is first mentioned in the 13th century when it belonged to a widow named Ingerd Sunesen. In the Middle Ages, Svenstrup was a farm under Antvorskov Abbey. In 1454, it was ceded to Roskilde Biscopic in exchange for other land. In 1623, Bishop Lauge Urne sided with Dyke Frederick in the conflict with Christian II. Shortly thereafter, Svenstrup was looted and burnt down by Niels Pedersen Halveg, one of the king's loyal men.
