Borsi (Greek: Μπόρσι) is a hillside community in Elis, Greece. It is part of the municipal unit of Lechaina. It is situated near the Pineios reservoir, about 17 km east of Lechaina proper. Between 1841 and 1912, the community was part of the old municipality of Vouprasia. The nearest villages are Aetorrachi to the east and Kentro to the south. Western Greece Region ( el, Περιφέρεια Δυτικής Ελλάδας, translit=Periféria Dhitikís Elládhas, ) is one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece. It comprises the western part of continental Greece and the northwestern part of the Peloponnese peninsula. Elis or Ilia ( el, Ηλεία, ''Ileia'') is a historic region in the western part of the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece. It is administered as a regional unit of the modern region of Western Greece. Its capital is Pyrgos. Until 2011 it was Elis Prefecture, covering the same territory. The modern regional unit is nearly coterminous with the ancient Elis of the classical period. Lechaina
Lechaina ( el, Λεχαινά) is a town and a former municipality in Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Andravida-Kyllini, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 94.567 km2. It is situated 39 km north of the city of Pyrgos, and 60 km southwest of Patras. In 2011, its population was 4,855. Geography The area of the municipal unit Lechaina stretches from the flatlands on the Ionian Sea coast to the hills around the Pineios reservoir in the east. The main land use is agriculture. Vouprasia ( el, Βουπρασία) is a former municipality in Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Andravida-Kyllini, of which it is a municipal unit. Its seat of administration was Varda, a small town with a population of about 2,300. The municipal unit has about 8,400 inhabitants. The area of the municipal unit is 170.859 km². Aetorrachi ( el, Αετορράχη, before 1957: Βάλακα - ''Valaka'') is a settlement and a community in the municipal unit of Vouprasia, Elis Greece. It is located in the hills of northern Elis, 3 km east of Borsi, 14 km southeast of Varda and 30 km north of Pyrgos. It is close to the northern shore of the Pineios reservoir, and south of the Movri hills. Its population in 2001 was 92 for the village, and 224 for the community, which includes the village Dafni. History The village was founded during the Ottoman Era and was known as ''Valaka'' (Greek: Βάλακα), named after the Turkish chief Valak Agaş. Kentro () is a village and a community of the Ilida municipality. Before the 2011 local government reform it was a part of the municipality of Amaliada, of which it was a municipal district. Geography It is situated on the west shore of the dam Pineios. The reservoir was created in the 1960s.
