Borough 4 (Düsseldorf)
Borough 4 () is a borough of Düsseldorf, the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It covers an area of 12.62 square kilometres and has about 45,000 inhabitants (2020). Borough 4 is the city's only borough on the west bank of the Rhine and its quarters are popular residential areas. Across the river, it shares borders with Düsseldorf boroughs 5, 1 and 3. West and South-west, the borough is bordered by Rhein-Kreis Neuss and the city of Neuss. Oberkassel ( li, Ueverkassel) is a part of Düsseldorf's Borough 4. Oberkassel lies on the west side of the river Rhine, the opposite side of the central district of Düsseldorf. It has an area of , and 19,052 inhabitants (2020). Rheinkniebrücke
The Rheinkniebrücke (English: Rhine knee bridge) is a cable-stayed bridge leading over the Rhine at the Rheinknie in Düsseldorf with a six-lane motor road and two combined pedestrian and cycle paths, which was opened to traffic on 16 October 1969. History The decision to build the bridge was made in 1962. The architect Friedrich Tamms was entrusted with the development of the project. Fritz Leonhardt was appointed chief engineer. The bridge was built in 1965 by Deutsche Maschinenbau-Aktiengesellschaft (Demag AG), Gutehoffnungshütte, Aktienverein für Bergbau und Hüttenbetrieb and Hein, Lehmann & Co.. The bridge was commissioned on October 16, 1969. At the time of its opening, it was a cable-stayed bridge with the longest span in the world. The Bundesstraße 7 (abbr. B7) is a German federal highway (Bundesstraße) that stretches from the Dutch border at Venlo in the West to Rochlitz near Chemnitz in the East. It is approximately long. Because of its western origin some stretches of the B 7 are designated as "Holländische Straße" (''Dutch Road''), e.g., in Kassel and Calden. Bundesautobahn 57
is a German Autobahn that begins at the Dutch-German border near Goch and ends in Köln. It runs parallel to the Rhine River. Neuss and Krefeld are the biggest cities at this motorway. The A 57 is continuation of the Dutch A77. Because of its high economic importance, its nickname is "Trans-Niederrhein-Magistrale". Most of it is two lanes each way only and prone to traffic jams in the rush hour. Currently the sections junction 15 - 18, 19 - 24 and 29 - 30 have three lanes each way. The section from junction 28 to 29 southbound has the possibility to open the hard shoulder as a third lane in heavy traffic. Traffic jams are possible between junctions 10 and 15, 17 and 20 as well as around junctions 27/28. There is a variable speed limit between junction 10 and 23. The sections from junction 23 to 24 and 27 to 30 have a limit of 100 km/h. Between junctions 27 and 28 the limit was reduced to 80 km/h between 10pm and 6am at night. Rheinbahn is a public transport operator operating in Düsseldorf, Meerbusch and Kreis Mettmann. Its network consists of the Düsseldorf Stadtbahn, a network of 11 Stadtbahn (light rail) lines which are integrated in the Rhine-Ruhr Stadtbahn network, as well as Düsseldorf's tram system and 92 bus lines. The total rail network length was in 2021. In 2004, Rheinbahn transported 690,000 passengers per day. Düsseldorf Stadtbahn
__NOTOC__ The Düsseldorf Stadtbahn, together with the Rhein-Ruhr S-Bahn, Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn and the Trams in Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf Straßenbahn (Tram), is the backbone of the public transport system of Düsseldorf, Germany, and is integrated in the Rhine-Ruhr Stadtbahn network.
