''Born Gene'' is the third Korean-language and sixth overall studio album by South Korean singer Kim Jae-joong, released on September 13, 2022, through C-JeS Entertainment. It includes the lead single "Nobody Like You" and is Kim's first Korean-language album in six years, following 2016's ''No.X''. The album debuted at number five on the Korean Circle Album Chart. Kim toured Asia in support of the record from September 17 to October 8, 2022. Background The album is Kim's first full Korean-language album in six years. Kim stated that he intended ''Born Gene'' to have tracks that "make everyone excited like they're at a festival, the moment they first hear" them. He also co-wrote the songs "Locking Love" and "Broken Mirror". Commercial performance ''Born Gene'' debuted at number five on the Circle Album Chart with first-week sales of 47,359 in South Korea. Kim Jae-joong
Kim Jae-joong (; born January 26, 1986), also known mononymously as Jaejoong in South Korea and in Japan, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, actor and director. He is a member of the Korean pop group JYJ and was one of the original members of boy band TVXQ, where he was formerly known by the stage name Hero Jae-joong (). Since 2013, he has expanded his range of activities as a solo artist. Born in Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do, he moved to Seoul as a teenager to audition for SM Entertainment. From 2003 to 2010, he was the lead vocalist of South Korean boy band TVXQ. Later, he sued SM Entertainment along with Park Yoo-chun and Kim Jun-su and together they separated from TVXQ to form JYJ. C-JeS Entertainment is a South Korean entertainment company established in 2009, handling the management of various artists. Its roster includes popular boy band JYJ; singer Gummy; actors Sol Kyung-gu, Ryu Jun-yeol, and Lee Jae-wook; and actresses Moon So-ri, Ra Mi-ran, Uhm Ji-won, Hwang Jung-eum and Kang Hye-jung. The Oricon Albums Chart is the Japanese music industry standard albums popularity chart issued daily, weekly, monthly and yearly by Oricon. Oricon originally published LP, CT, Cartridge and CD charts prior to the establishment of the Oricon Albums Chart on October 5, 1987. The Oricon Albums Chart's rankings are based on physical albums' sales. Oricon did not include download sales until its establishment of the Digital Albums Chart on November 19, 2016. In November 2018, Oricon began to include streaming in its album rankings, introducing a combined album chart based on album-equivalent units. The Circle Chart (), previously known as the Gaon Music Chart or the Gaon Chart (), tabulates the relative weekly popularity of songs and albums in South Korea. It is produced by the Korea Music Content Association and sponsored by South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Founded in 2010.
